I am looking for some information on where one could obtain either masters degree or a graduate certificate in project management through distance education. If anyone has any information, I would greatly appreciate your thoughts.

Thank You
Matt

There is a DL MBA in Technology Management offered by APESMA/Deakin University of Australia. The MBA program is specially designed for engineers and scientists. The Association of Professional Engineers, Scientists and Managers, Australia (APESMA) is an Australian association for Australian engineers and scientists.
You may check the course content (that inlcudes project management) and whether the degree certificate is offered in the name of Deakin U or jointly with the name of APESMA, the acceptance of the degree outside Australia etc.

The web site is http://www.apesma.asn.au/education/mba

The APESMA also has offered a DL DBA program with Charles Sturt University (www.apesma.asn.au/education/dba).

Hi Matt,

I did a trawl on this a short time ago while I was developing a professional PM course here in the Middle East - and I got a good response from the PM newsgroups (worth looking at).

ISIM offer an MBA in Project Management and also a certificate.
www.isimu.edu

But it's only DTEC ....... which as we all know doesn't travel well thanks to the RA cartel.

You might also like to try "professional certifications" see http://www.ipma.ch/ and http://www.apm.org.uk/ and http://www.pmi.org/

The last one gives you an American PPM which does travel well and is highly regarded in the industry.

Cheers,

Neil

Good morning!

There have been some good suggestions already, and the Western Carolina option is certainly unique with its dual AACSB and PMI accreditation (in addition to its regional accreditation, of course).

Another well-respected graduate program is at George Washington University, and it can be found at http://www.sbpm.gwu.edu/mspm/distance.htm on the web. This Master of Science in Project Management program does require a weekend orientation at GW and a one-week residency in Washington, D.C. prior to graduation.

One of the most interesting certificate offerings is the Advanced Project Management Program at Stanford, and it can lead to the Stanford Certified Project Manager designation. This program can be found at http://apm.stanford.edu on the web.

If you are looking for certification, the Project Management Professional (PMP) program is available through the Project Management Institute. Available to members and non-members alike, the PMP is a well-known certification. There are numerous study groups, courses, and other support materials for this program.

Please note that there are many other programs out there (e.g., the University of Texas at Dallas), so you may want to do a targeted search once you've decided whether to go for a degree or certificate.

Good luck in your search!

Hey Matt,

Also take a look at American Graduate University at www.agu.edu. They offer a DETC accredited Master of Project Management.
According to John Bear, they've been successfully offering some very specialized programs since 1975.

Good morning again!

In reading through the latest issue of PM Network, I saw an advertisement for the Master of Science in Project Leadership and Management at regionally-accredited Regis University. You can find information on this program at http://www.regisleadership.org or you can click on the distance learning link at http://www.regis.edu/spsgrad/ for information on this and several other DL programs.

Keep us posted as you make it through the decision-making process!

Matt,

if you are looking for a European Option have a look at Scottish Knowledge:
http://www.scottishknowledge.com/courses/showcourse.cfm?courseid=5&l=PST
they offer a MSc in PM, to admit it I have applied for it myself. They claim it under the Engineering Courses but it is open for people with all kinds of backgrounds.

Cheers,

SCPM makes more sense mainly for the associated "Stanford" name.
