    Hello

I was wondering if anyone knew of any Regionally Accredited universities that offer Challenge Exams for credit at the graduate course level. I was able to complete an undergraduate challenge exam through Athabasca U to help me complete my undergrad degree on time and found it to be a great experience. Much like a Dantes or Clep exam as far as time alloted but without the multiple choice. Most of the questions required complete answers (essay format) and the math required work to be shown. There were also far fewer questions (approximately 25-30).

Again, I'm looking for RA schools offering Challenge exams for graduate level courses in any subject.

    Any feedback is appreciated.

    Thanks

Grad school is supposed to be about creating new knowledge. I don't think you're going to find any regionally accredited schools offering challenge exams for graduate credit.

As of a few years ago, per posts here, the University of Wisconsin-Platteville offered 6 graduate semester hours for PMP certification, which is based on standardized examination and accepted qualifying experience.

Some schools offer some courses for either graduate or upper-level undergraduate credit. If such a school also offers challenge exams, that might be something.

You might want to consider a GAAP-compliant foreign school plus a credential evaluation if needed. Edinburgh Business School assessments are based entirely on their (famously tough) examinations on purpose-written self-contained texts. IIRC Dr. Bear talked about one of the major foreign credential evaluators giving them trouble as to counting as graduate credit, probably because of the open-admission nature of the program, while other evaluators accepted it perfectly. Some graduate programs at the University of London International Programmes (formerly External School and External System) may still depend heavily or entirely on examination for assessment; I'm thinking of the Master of Laws especially.

Not exactly the same, but relatedly, if your goal is earning graduate credit outside of admission to any graduate program, you might want to look into some of the third-party online professional development courses targeted towards educators, generally PK-12-level, for which graduate credit is available for a fee. Adams State College is one of the schools that issues credit for many of these third-party online courses, from providers like the American Museum of Natural History and PBS TeacherLine. Here's another list with some other providers.
