Just today I e-mailed Touro University International to inquire about their Ph.d in Business Administration & to see if I could use a DETC accredited master's degree to gain admission. Specifically, I asked about Ashworth College & Andrew Jackson University because my undergrad is DETC. I selected the two schools because they 1. Offer a very cost effective master's degree based on the format/concept of my undergrad & 2. I could gain admission into the program because DETC welcomes DETC.

An exceprt of my e-mail is below:

"I intend to apply to either Andrew Jackson University or Ashworth College......Will TUI accept nationally accredited degrees for admission into a doctoral program, specifically the Doctor of Philosophy in Business Administration?"

    The response:

"We do accept degrees granted by the institutes accredited by Distance Education and Training Council (DETC)."

This is great news for me because my primary means of financing the Montgomery G.I. Bill. I have $28,000 to cover as much education as possible. To know that the Ashworth MBA is only $5,000 and that I can still gain admission for a Ph.D is such comforting and great news for me (and I'm sure for a few others). Today I felt a dream come true because I saw my chance of achieving a long term goal.

Just thought I'd pass this along...

Okay, so maybe the news isn't so comforting afterall. Please tell me that my math sucks as bad as I hope it does and that the Touro Ph.D isn't as expensive as I calculated.

I would greatly appreciate a recalculation.

The accepting of those with nationally accredited degrees by Touro UI's doctoral program is a very positive step for the acceptance of NA degrees and will help them to be a viable choice for many. Let's hope that Touro UI continues to push the envelope.
