Although I'm sure this has been covered before, I am completely new to this DL malarkey and want to get a better idea of the costs involved and just how much one would save over a brick and mortar uni. For example, could a ballpark figure for the BA English course at Ellis College of New York Institute of Technology be provided? Any inquiry to the University in question seem to result in a demand for a $50 registration fee before anything else is discussed.
May I assume that your use of the term "malarkey" was sarcasm? Just as there is a wide range in the costs of B&M universities, there is a wide range in the costs of DL degrees. This is especially true if you're willing to consider some non-US programs. Many people, myself included, pay special attention to such costs. I'll bet that as you peruse the relevant university websites you'll come to understand that DL programs were not necessarily designed to be cost saving. You can easily find some DL programs that are more expensive than some B&M programs. If you're willing to say more about your educational goals you can probably receive some information as to the less expensive programs that would help you reach those goals. Jack
As usual, Jack Tracey is correct. DL is not a cheap alternative to traditional college educations, unless you are in the position of not attending classes. In that case, the potential loss of income cann be a deciding factor. The advantage of DL is the ability to maintain a job, and complete a degree.
