New CNN.com article on distance learning

This just came out today....

The future seems very bright for distance learning from the youngest members of society to the most elder. The Internet brought democracy to the masses and distance learning will similarly bring about educational opportunities for everyone around the world.

I would not be surprise if in the next twenty years there is a significant shift away from brick-and-mortar schools and an increasing demand for distance education. The new public schools will be virtual with perhaps the students only attending a physical building for things such as labs or other hands-on required training.
