Hello again all. I am now 99% complete with my BS degree in HRM. I am looking ahead to graduate school and have settled on Golden Gate University's EMPA program. Here is my question. I need to find any of the following Graduate courses via DL AND offered at four units per course. EMPA 300 Theory, Ethics and Practice in Public Service EMPA 301 Research Methods and Analysis EMPA 302 Public Policy Analysis & Program Evaluation EMPA 303 Organizational Analysis and Development EMPA 304 Public Enterprise Management and Public Sector-Business Relations EMPA 305 Budgeting and Financial Management EMPA 306 Public Service and the Law EMPA 307 Personnel Management and Labor Relations They have said I can transfer in up to three courses toward the EMPA program and I was hoping to save a few bucks by finding a few of these somewhere else. GGU is charging 360 per credit hour. The courses transferred in must be 4 unit however or else I'd have to make up the additional unit on each 3 unit course transferred in (I spoke to the program manager) and they must be Regionally Accredited. I know this is a little off the beaten path but I figured if anyone would be able to help, it would be the people on this board. I really do have my heart set on GGU as it has been a long term goal since high school to graduate from there (I'm in Northern California). Thanks in advance for any assistance given.
Hi, Here is a list of schools that offer an online MPA program. PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION Central Michigan University B, M City University M Concordia University M CSU Dominguez Hills M Florida Gulf Coast University M Florida Institute of Technology M Golden Gate University M Keller Graduate School of Management M Marist University M Mississippi State University M National University M Nova Southeastern University M, D Old Dominion University M Mercy College M Regent University M Strayer University M Troy State University M University of Baltimore M University of Colorado-Denver M You live in NorCal so some of these schools will charge you out-of-state tuition so it might not make a difference money wise. Three that I have looked at are Troy University, CSU Dominquez Hills and APUS. The three schools all have 3 unit semester classes. So how about taking four classes to get your 12 units. All three option will cost you less even though you will be taking four classes instead of three. Troy University - http://www.tsulearn.net/programs/mpa/mpadegreerequirements12.htm Tuition will run you $290/unit or $870/course. http://www.tsulearn.net/registration/tuitionandfees.htm CSUDH - http://mpaonline.csudh.edu/programs.asp Tuition will run you $900/course. http://mpaonline.csudh.edu/online.faq.asp APUS - http://www.apus.edu/APU/Academics/DegreePath.aspx?paid=2870&concID=3282 Tuition will run you $750/course. http://www.apus.edu/APU/Resources.aspx?CT=Admissions&SEC=Financial#Tuition_Schedule Now here is a disclaimer for APUS - They are currently a "RA Candidate." They have not received full RA accreditation. Some RA schools allow transfer from RA Candidate schools, some don't. Here is a link that shows their accreditation status: http://www.apus.edu/APU/Resources.aspx?CT=About&SEC=Accreditation Check with the program manager to see if this will fly. Good Luck.
tmartca Wow, thanks for the wealth of information! I'm going to start checking out those schools right away. Thanks again!
