I have one exam to go for my BS at EC and I'm shaking in my boots. During the past 6 months or so, I have passed 15 exams (ECE's, Cleps, Dantes). Now, with one to go ( ECE Abnormal Psychology), I'm scared to death that I may bomb on the exam (scheduled for Tuesday 3/2).

Any thoughts or ideas that might get me over the hump?

In other words, for the last half a year, you've been passing exams at the rate of one every week or two. And now you think you're going to screw up on the last one? Oh, puleeze!

You probably by now know all that you're going to know two days from now, so my best advice would be to take a chill pill, kick back, relax, put on a video of "Rocky" and visualize 60,000 people cheering for you as you go into the ring ready to kick ass on that last exam.

BTW - As a former tutor in history and business, I gave the above advice to a former student of mine who went from a midterm grade of F to a final grade of A.

Visualize, visualize, visualize. Do the best you can and try not to worry about it. Just think positive.!!!! I have been a martial artist for a very long time, and visualization gets me through many tough times, not just martial arts. You can do the same.

    Good luck!!!!!

    You will do fine. :)

    Thanks, for the input!

I guess what has me concerned is when I took the ECE organizational Behavior exam a couple of weeks ago, midway throught the exam, I got that .."damn, this isn't going very well" kinda feeling. So, after all 160 questions, I pressed the "End Exam" button to find I had scored an A!

EC Exams are a strange breed. I am told they are not scored the same as Clep or Dantes. So, I'm just a bit worried.

Well, it is now 3/3. Did the capacity crowd cheering you on help you kick ass on that final exam?

It's funny you say that. The last CLEP I did worried me the most. Despite being Intro to Psychology, known for being fairly easy, it was the only one of mine where I didn't score in the 70's.

But then, a lowly 63 was good enough. Even if you do "bomb", I'm sure it will be similar for you -- "Oh no, a B!"

    Common sense!

Dude, I did the same thing except I took the Psychiatric Nursing exam last and that one next to last. I have to say, it is really pure common sense and you'll do fine. I passed with an A with nearly no study. Of course I did the psyc GRE a few weeks before and that was crazy study.
    Good luck!

    Congratulations!

You're from Detroit (like me) and you're worried about a lousy exam?

Well, folks, I passed with a "C"!!!! Actually, I studied for a "C". I just wanted to be done. And, all that counts is that I PASSED...WAHOOOOOOOOOO. I was so nervous. What made things worse than marginal studying was the exam proctor sat me next to a guy that coughed every 15 seconds...almost to the second. I thought about requesting another seat, but the place was packed.

Thanks so much for the words of encouragement, everyone. This forum has been such a valuable tool in the pursuit of my BS degree. Through marriage, kids, divorce, marriage again, more kids, I've finally made it. I feel like I can do anything, now.

While I'm still in the mood, it's on to grad school. I'm considering Harvard Extension's Master of Liberal Arts in Information Technology. But, 2 grand for a class is a bit much. Or, I might just
pursue a Master of Education at the University of Michigan Extension.

In any case, thanks again and best of luck to you all!

I wish you the best for that exam.
BUT , believe me, if you were as far as I am from reching that milestone you're at, then you'd have much more reasons to feel nervous....(I only have 30 credits so far!!!!!).

It's stupid of me saying it, but if I were in your shoes I'd be so happy. Even if i were to fail one last exam, so what, I could always take it again in a few months....but I'm afraid that for now I have to wait some years for that LAST EXAM....

You will get there my friend, one credit at a time. I notice your are from Madrid! I have been there many times, very beautiful!! I land there than take the Chanmartin train to Gorga, Valencia, where I have family.

I just had to add that, :)

Keep it up, I am working towards my B.A. as well, since I came across this forum, I will be able to speed it up quite a bit (bain4weeks.com), this is a great group of people who are always willing to help.

    take care, Abner

    Abner,
Yes I live in Spain but actually did most of my high school in Canada...(long story)
Anyways, I began this thing in 1997, and here I am in 2005 with only 30 credits.
Haven't studied all the time, of course. Sometimes have spent over a year without doing anything. It is only in the last 3 years that I've started speeding up with this.
I do hope somehow that at least I'll be able to get my Associates in Business by the end of this year or so.
After that the long haul towards a Bachelors probably in Liberal Arts...

Are there no affordable distance education programs in Canada?

Check ou Charter Oak State College

I would suggest one of the big three distance schools. Go to bain4weeks.com You can save a lot of time and money by testing out of most, if not all subjects. For example, last month I got 12 credits for taking a Spanish CLEP test!! All for $65.00 !!!!

Do yourself a favor and check out one of the big three (Charter Oak, Thomas Edison and Excelsior) You will learn about the big three on bain4weeks.com Why chose one of the big three? They have no residency requirements, In other words you can transfer into their degree programs without having to take a certain amount of units from them. If anyone wants to add to my comments and help out, please feel free.

    Enjoy Madrid!!!!! :)

Abner, thanks for your info. But since 1997 I've been aware of and followed all these wonderful resources. Back then I didn't even have internet! I had to fax Regents College (old name for Excelsior) to request information.

Unfortunately taking Cleps in Spain is really expensive because I am forced to travel to London. And even that possibility is going to be out pretty soon because I think the center in London is going to discontinue it in a few weeks.

My first Cleps I did back then in Madrid at Syracuse university (acting as proctors) because they were paper, but since they computerized them it's become a pain. One model case of technology making things less efficient!

For Dantes I also have to travel.

This is one of the main reasons I'm going so slow (financial).

Of course got the 12 credits for Spanish already.

Now everything boils down to the formula money+time. That's all that's holding me back. But, as the name says, I Will MAKEIT

Did you try talking to the Syracuse University in Madrid about proctoring the Dantes tests ... they are still paper based.
I'm sure there are other American schools with schools or students in Spain ... go through them and see if they can at least arrange to give you Dantes tests through their American counterparts. Who knows ?? Are there any American Bases in Spain?

I've got it a bit easier since I only have to travel 2 hours to Geneva .. but it's still much more complicated then in the US.

There is always the possibility of going to the US for a couple weeks to take tests like crazy.

    Don't worry, "We'll both Makeit" :)

    Good points,

I won't add anything to that except maybe finding out if you can take these tests at one of the local embassies. Never hurts to ask.

    Take care gentleman,

    keep up the good work,

wish me luck, I am taking DANTES Intro to Business tomorrow.

Well, good luck then to Abner.
Re BNs point, unfortunately I believe Dantes is quite strict with administration and it's not possible to arrange wherever.
Thre used to be a nice American Base near Madrid (Torrejon) but that closed many years ago (thankyou socialist government!). The others are too far and don't think would arrange for a non american.
