The traditional Freshman Composition course (Eng 101/102) sequence from an RA school will generally meet the Excelsior written english requirement.

There are other options as well but CLEP is not among them...

It might be possible to get an RA university to accept the CLEP as meeting their requirement and then get them to certify to Exelsior that you've met the writing requirement. This seems to me a long way to get around a reasonable requirement.

There is the option to take some upper level writing courses in fulfillment of that requirement as well. Works well if you're going to take writing intensive courses anyway.

The best place to find out about whether your particular 101/102 sequence will meet their requirement is to ask Excelsior... :)

  3. The TECEP English Comp I exam is probably the easiest way to meet the Excelsior Written English requirement if you don't already have existing college credit.

    Cheers,
    Mark
