OK, here's an interesting one. A casual friend is a professional musician, incredibly talented, and he performs all over the country. He's college age, but his band's record is really hot right now, so he's touring something like 40 weeks a year, probably for the next several years at least. He's interested in, preferably, a conservatory-level composition curriculum, preferably one delivered online rather than via mail. It doesn't necessarily have to be a degree program, but it should be something that he could later transfer to an RA school or music conservatory. I can't offhand think of any programs that qualify, but I bet there are a couple of options out there. Any suggestions?
This doesn't qualify as a conservatory-level composition curriculum, but it might be worth looking at: http://www.une.edu.au/music/m_home.htm . It is a little hard to imagine a music conservatory offering a DL program....
.... Here is a pretty decent list of music schools if he wants to do some research: http://www.music.indiana.edu/music_resources/som.html .
Maybe I'm confused, but I couldn't find a reference on the une.edu.au link that indicated that the courses are offered via DL. If Bill or somebody else can point out where it talks about DL, I'd appreciate it... I'm sure I'm just missing it. THanks
They snuck it in there, as part of one sentence: "All music units available for the BA degree are offered both internally and externally." UNISA might also be workable; I know they generally require short residencies for their D.Mus., but their B.Mus./M.Mus. might be nonresidential-able. If you don't find anything shortly, drop me an e-mail and I'll do a little more hunting... Peace, ------------------ Tom Head www.tomhead.net
