    Hello,

I am looking for suggestions/advice regarding Doctoral programs in communications offered via DL or other methods that would not require residency/extensive residency.

I've looked at Regents - but would like to hear from those who have enrolled in or could provide some insight into their program.

ANY suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you.

I do not have a lot to offer as this is not my field. Regents looks well run and is a well endowed, "classy" looking university (red bricks and white columns, etc).

One of our folks here at one time managed to get two of the departments at UNIZUL (South Africa) to work together and offer some sort of joint research area in Theology and Communications (if I recall). UNIZUL offers British Style research doctorates (i.e. large dissertation - no coursework) at a total cost of less than 2000 for the program. Can be no residency as in Bill Grover's case). He has posted here that he is already working as adjunct faculty at an accredited school as a result of it. South Africa has a well respected education system and you foten find graduates of South Africa Theological schools working here in the US/Canada.

Regents is certainly going to be much more expensive and require a short residency but my guess is that as an RA program (and US based) it may bring more utility to it.

    Good luck in your search.

All the ones I know of are either in Australia
    Central Queensland U
    Charles Sturt U
    U of Melbourne
    U of New England
    or they are in England
    South Bank U
    U of Bradford
    U of Kent
    U of Teesside
of course, as always, there's UNISA too.

Regent University - PhD in Communication

I believe that is the program you are talking about. It's at Regent (not Regents) University which is a highly respected Christian School founded by Pat Robertson in Virginia. Very expensive, I'd guess $40-50K.

If you have the ability to fund education at that kind of price, I can't see how you can go wrong with them.

    Good luck with your search!
