    Hi to everyone!

This is my first time to write here! I do think that this forum is a very good place for me to know more about the latest information of the programmes and universities/institutions by means of distance learning, or even this helps to make decision on choosing the course.

Can anyone comment on this University (and/or West Coast Institute of Management & Technology)? Is this University accredited or also a degree-mill? Thanks a lot!

West coast university is California approved university.
    this university provides business degrees.

    the new WCU is unaccredited.

In 1998 another school by the same name went out of business and was closed. That university was regionally accredited.

The records of graduates of closed WCU are temporary held by the new WCU, I think initially it was agreed that the records will be owned till 2007.

No disrespect but is B Lee stands for Bruce lee.

    I recommend staying away.

I couldn't find them as being accredited/authorised to offer degrees within Australia and we have much stricter standards (accreditation/registration is nonvoluntary)

    (WA Register is here)

It also claims accreditation by the "International Council for Open & Distance Education" and the university itself is registerd in an odd place (Panama)

Looks like a degree mill to me.

Edit: The Australian side of things is a shell company for a foreign operation, in a place with much laxer laws.

Found another interesting site about their Nigerian offshoot

Experiential Learning & Life Experience Credits

    Preview of Degree Requirements

Now that seems to be a very poor structure for any doctoral program.

Edit: And I just hit the jackpot - why didn't I find this earlier

Much thanks to Lerner, eric, plantagenet & galanga!

WSU as mentioned by Eric is correct. Personally, I am very agreeing with plantagenet that this U looks like a degree mill after entering into the web pages of this U and other similar names of WCU. Forget this U to me!

    P.S.
Lerner, B. Lee stands for Bosco Lee, but not for Bruce lee (i.e. a famous Chinese "kung-fu" star). :D

WCIMT has had significant presence in Hong Kong, so we can understand your concerns.

    Cheers,

Blimey, the West Coast places are actually franchises.

    The franchise criteria

I don't see much in the way of "teaching skills" being listed.

I knew there was a market in selling fake degrees, but I didn't realise there was a market in selling fake universities! What will they think of next?
