I have an associates of applied science in water quality technology (which deals with operation of water and wastewater treatment plants). I have had the frustration of trying to retrain for something else since I do not like the work in this field.

However, I have run into the problem over and over of the AAS not transfering well because it doesnt have many of the required general eds.

Thus most programs I have looked at will tranfer my maths, writings and sciences, but leave me almost starting over because of the other gaps. And none of my water classes transfer.

    I stumbled across this today:

    Mayville State

This says it would take my AAS in block transfer (or that is what I am reading anyway) and then I would only need to earn 60 semester credits towards my Bachelors of applied science in Computer information systems.

I really preferred a BSCS degree and honestly I am afraid a BAS is going to put me in the same bind when going for my masters. However, at a cost of less than 10k for a degree.. thats hard to beat.

So I am wondering if anyone knows anything about the school, the program, or whether there are other schools who would take a AAS in block transfer? or if I should just buck up and get a BS?

When you transfer to a masters program it should not matter if you have a BA, BS, BAS, etc. As long as you meet the requirements to get into the Masters program.

When I got my BS, I did not care about a concentration/focus. I needs a bachelors with the pre-req's to get into a masters program.

Bellevue University will take any associates degree as fulfillment of the general education requirements. They allow transfer of up to 82 lower level semester hours too. They do not have a CS program, but they have a Business Information Systems program, as well as a few other technical degrees. Bellevue is RA and about 10K for the 36 credit hour completion. I am currently enrolled and am quite happy thus far.
