    Friends:

My LTO tutor asked me to evaluate the effectiveness of the Crown Prosecution Service's partnership with the police. Never mind the details, just bear with me a minute.

I went on for PAGES explaining how I really didn't know what "effectiveness" meant, etc. Very erudite.

She replied, gently and kindly, that the CPS' own manual explains what the partnership is supposed to accomplish. Perhaps THAT should have been my definition?

I have forgotten just how stupid learning can make the student feel.

Ah, well. Better with the tutor than the examiners, right?

    Grin. Sort of.

It's interesting, because that experience parallels mine (well, my lowly LLB experience anyway). No matter how often I reminded myself that the tutors are not the examiners it always hurt when I did something stupid.

Reminding myself that it was the tutor not the examiner never helped all that much. A bit but not that much.

It's good to hear it's only a faux pas with a tutor. When I read the title to your thread, I assumed you'd bombed your first round of exams. Glad to hear it's not anything so drastic (if you consider that "drastic").

So it appears as if law school, even DL and overseas, has this unusually efficient way of making the great majority of students feel like perfect and utter dolts. My experience all those years ago was much the same.
