Looking for biographical dissertations

I'm currently writing two biographies: One about a comtemporary church leader, and the other about a famous healing evangelist who lived from 1877 to 1958. Both have lots of church history from a Pentecostal/Charismatic perspective.

When a prominent church historian learned of my projects, he encouraged me to use one of the projects as a topic for either a master's or doctorate in church history. (He recommended Regent's new Ph.D. program in Virginia Beach, Va. But it's TOO expensive.)

I haven't made a decision, but I want to look into the possibilities. At the moment, I need:

    * Good biographical theses/dissertations to study.

    * A good book or website with guidelines for writing such a work.

I have over 10 good books on research and writing dissertations. Most of them were recommended here on this forum.

Unfortunately, none of them deal with biographical writing.

If any of you can offer help on this topic, it would be greatly appreciated.

BTW, I've read that most students and scholars tend to shy away from biographical topics because of the extensive amount of research involved.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks.

    BIOGRAPHICAL DISSERTATIONS?

You might wish to contact Judith Arcana, Professor of English Literature at Union Institute at [email protected]. Her dissertation was a literary biography of Grace Paley. Her PhD was earned from Loyola University of Chicago in 1989.
