Any comments on this school or experience that anybody can share? They are one of four schools that I'm seriously considering for my MSN degree, but would like to learn more about them through personal experiences.
One Night, I thought about attending Graceland to get my MAtcb (Master of Arts in Taking Care of Business), but I noticed that their faculty has an incredibly high turnover rate. It's like the people are All Shook Up. I talked about it with my wife, a Hardheaded Woman who thinks maybe I ought to reconsider, as the whole thing is leaving us both with Suspicious Minds. So while we thought about it, we put on our Blue Suede Shoes and took Emma and Stella, our Hound Dogs, out for a walk. We discussed it some more, but finally decided that we needed a Little Less Conversation, and It's Now or Never, so I would submit my application. I filled it out that night, holding a Good Luck Charm while I typed my application essays. Since I knew I wanted to live on campus, I marked my preferred dorm as the Heartbreak Hotel. Imagine my surprise when my application came back marked Return To Sender! They claimed I was obsessed with Elvis, and that this joke was reaching Too Much. They said, Don't even think of applying again. I was so upset, I found myself Crying In The Chapel down In The Ghetto. Mercy.
Hi Hikergirl: Looks OK: regionally accredited, bunch of interesting programs, satellite campuses. Affiliated Community of Christ (aka Reorganized Latter-day Saints). What I didn't see was any distance education provision. Did I miss it? Do you require it? Hi Fortunato: Um, can't stand Elvis (no, I don't like Zamfir either, before anybody asks), but your post is breathtaking. Hats off, gents, a genius!
uncle janko... I probably should have included a link to their online/DL degrees: http://www.graceland.edu/show.cfm?durki=103 They're limited in the selection, but they offer the MSN degree I seek. And thanks for the info on the affiliation... I wasn't able to figure out what the religion was and will be able to relieve some of my more biased friends who do not think that religiously affiliated schools are a good thing. My first degree was from a religiously affiliated school.
It definitely checks out. Looks reasonable, except at $440/semesterhour it is going to be a bit on the pricey side ($12,000+). A good public school could be half that. Have you looked at: Athabasca University California State University, Dominguez Hills (Distance Learning) Central Missouri State University (Department of Nursing) East Carolina University Excelsior College Florida State University Fort Hays State University Indiana State University Middle Tennessee State University Northern Arizona University Old Dominion University The University of Alabama Tuscaloosa, Alabama University of Central Florida University of Delaware University of Massachusetts Amherst (Division of Continuing Education) The University of North Carolina at Greensboro University of Wyoming West Virginia University
Thanks for the list, Mike. I have looked at most of those schools, but had to narrow down my choices to about 4 that offered specific courses that I'm looking for in particular. One school from your list (Middle Tennessee State University) had to most difficult to understand extended learning website. Eek. I gave up trying to figure out their degree listings after a while and moved on. Didn't help that they didn't offer the classes I need. I may still give Graceland U a shot, but could really use some input from people who have taken classes or earned degrees from there before applying.
Now how can anyone not like Elvis? My prediction: It's A Matter of Time before you'll have Burning Love for Elvis prior to departing for the Promised Land in that Long Black Limousine getting drenched in the Kentucky Rain, My Little Friend! Couldn't resist!
No, Dr Clifton, the Elvis thang won't happen. Howlin' Wolf, yeah. Elvis, no. But Joseph Smith III was one of the most innovative, impressive, and just plain interesting folks in American church history. Launius has a brilliant bio of JS3 (U. Illinois Press). I don't like MTSU. They abolished their D.A. program, the stinkers. There's nothing wrong with MTSU; I just don't like them.
Oh well, there are enough of us Elvis fans to keep the Memories alive. You're still okay in my book, ha! Just say you at least like Jerry Lee Lewis, Buddy Holly, Bobby Darin, Dean Martin, Sam Cooke, Eta James, or Norah Jones and I will be happy. Even more so than Mary Baker Eddy or Mother Ann Lee?
