Good Morning, I am looking for suggestions and posted this in off topic originally. My daughter is getting a second BA for GPA improvement. She has tried to defend several courses to transfer but TESC has not seen things her way. She has completed almost all the FEMA EMI. She is currently trying to have some of the FEMA EMI evaluated as Occupational Safety. I am looking for help with persuasive arguments. Thanks. This is not a TESC bashing post. It is what it is. Are you talking about the FEMA EMI Independent Study courses? I did the series back in the 90's. I found out in 2001 that two colleges were awarding credit for the EMI courses. I paid Frederick Community College for the 1 credit hour per course. In my experience, most colleges were willing to accept the credits from Frederick, but not award credit for the EMI courses straight off a FEMA certificate. I don't think the EMI courses are listed in the ACE guide (I could be wrong), which I think has a lot to do with colleges not granting credit for them outright.

All in all, the credits for me were worthless. Most colleges just counted them as lower-division elective credits (which I have plenty of - that's where most of my military credits or occupational credits get lumped into). Which is understandable, I wouldn't expect to receive credit for a 3 hr management or safety class for any number of my EMI classes added up - there's just no comparison.

Now, if you're talking about in-residence courses or the NFA courses that's a different story.

For a fee these schools grant college credit for FEMA Independent Study courses.

U.S. Fire Administration (FEMA) Independent Study courses.

Two of these courses, Q118 & Q318 have been ACE certified.

Thomas Edison State College has evaluated 25 of the FEMA Independent Study courses for credit.
