I have begun my doctoral journey with the University of Zululand through the South African Theological Seminary. I will keep the Forum posted as things progress. So far I am quite impressed with the level of responsiveness on the part of SATS & UNIZUL. Very quick, helpful and professional.

For some reason, I was thinking you were a doctoral student at Northcentral.

Congratulations! I hereby confer the title of “Shaka” on you. This title is hitherto reserved only for great sons of Africa.

    Hey, North!

Congratulations! I wish you much great success and satisfaction as you undertake this process.

I also would greatly appreciate being kept informed about your progress and on-going impressions of the SATS/UZULU outfit. While I'm quite likely to enroll in a PhD through Potchefstroom, I haven't entirely ruled out the UZULU doctorate. So, your insights would be of great service to me.

I would be interested to know who your promoter, how often he/she is expecting you to make contact, and some of the other basic details about your study arrangement.

    Again, congrats and good luck!

I am within a gnat's hair of beginning my journey as well. I would like to privately compare notes with those of the group involved with SATS/UZululand.

    k,

I haven't decided to study with SATS/UZ, but they were/are on my short list; I have had contact with them and am very impressed.

If you would like to continue private discussion, please e-mail me: [email protected]

A gnat's hair? This is probably as close as one can get without making the plunge. Have you considered Potchefstroom (www.puk.ac.za) or University of South Africa (www.unisa.ac.za)?

    CL,

Do you have a time frame you are working with here? When do you anticipate enrolling at PU?

    Hey, Russell!

I do have a general time frame. As you may have noticed from my posts elsewhere, I am still finishing my MTh work with Spurgeon's College. I have a sneaking suspicion that, with the kind of time that the University of Wales' approach to things will require for my thesis to be passed and my degree granted, I likely will not be able to enter GST until July of 2002. I am looking forward to that very much, but am trying to attend to first things first.

Yes, and yes. Cost and convenience considerations weigh in SATS/UNIZUL's favor.

    Peter,

Behave yourself. I don't think the Faculty of the Theology department at UNIZUL would be amused by that sort of initiation. [IMG]

I visited your web page. You updated your picture (more casual). I see Australia loves all those neck tags as well (ID badge, security card). [IMG] I think I have more tags than my schnauzer.

I thought those neck tags were verification of accredited credentials, sort of like military dog tags.

That might not be a bad idea. Anyone holding a credible degree could wear a tag which stated "My degree is real. My degree ain't from no degree mill. My degree is real." [IMG]

Congrats, North. Does anyone know if UNIZUL offers DL in other departments? There doesn't seem to be any evidence of it on their web site.

Hey North - are you going to start a church/ Real live scrifices - virgins maybe?.

Seriously though, and you will have thought this one through, isn't having a relious doctorate from a the ZULU camp going to require about as much explaining as having a doctorate through MIGS?

Maybe the SA descriptor appears on the degree?

Come and get baptised by North PhD (Zulu) - you could end up with one really wild congregation - is you alter big enough to hold my mother-in-law/ ... and so on.

    Me heart is a stirrin'...

Perhaps no more than an Aussie degree (e.g., Queensland) might possibly conjur up images of the wild outback, kangaroos and Aborigine's. [IMG]

I thought you were inrolled in a MIGS doctoral program, Peter. Has that changed?
