California Coast on faculty lists

Just for grins I was looking at faculty lists of various schools. I do find more California Coast degrees than I expected. In nearly ALL cases it was a CCU Ph.D. combined with RA undergrad & graduate degrees. (How much weight was on the RA degrees vs. the CCU doctorate? No idea ... but they were listed in the faculty listing of more RA schools than I would have guessed.)

Anyway: There are exceptions to every rule such as this which I found early this morning:

I'm not finding it odd as a faculty entry for "Our Lady", but I find it odd that the CCU degree holder got into Louisiana State U. with both an undergrad and a graduate degree from CCU.

Thoughts?

Well actually it would seem that Cowick got his M.D. in 1965, long before California Coast was founded. (http://www.lsumc.edu/Catalog/2000/MedicineAtNewOrleans/FacultyRoster/FacultyRosterC.htm)

So now the question is why he would choose to list the CCU degrees, rather than whatever else he had that got him into medical school.

Maybe he's a "non-conformist" and he's trying to make a statement about DL ??? <GRIN>

 

Most med schools only require 3 years of undergrad before matriculation, and this was a more popular option in the past. My guess is that he never finished his legitimate undergrad degree.

 

Perhaps is MD is from UK where it could be a first degree (BM upgraded to MD after completion of internship).
