I know someone with an MBA from Schiller International School –(Dunedin, Florida) and she would like to teach online courses. Schiller is acceditied by Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS). How is it viewed when schools require a grad degree from an RA school to teach?
Having served on hiring boards for faculty and administrators for several years, my experience has been that when, as you say, "schools require a grad degree from an RA school", then an NA degree (such as from an ACICS accredited institution) will not be considered for hire. If your friend is looking for a full-time tenure-track position, it is highly unlikely (though not impossible). Now if your friend is looking for an adjunct (part-time) position, particularly at a community college, he or she might have a shot, depending upon the need of the school and the competition. In academia, RA tends to trump NA. Tony Pina Administrator, Northeastern Illinois University
