Well, it seems that the Applied Learning Evaluation Center (aleconline.org) has gotten very incensed that some of the regulars here have accused them of being another fraud.

In fact, they've threatened and promised to extradite somebody (they didn't say whom) to Greece to stand trial for the libel, slander, and defamation that they have suffered as a result of all the terrible things that have been said. And (boots quaking) it was indicated that libel is a *criminal* matter in Greece, subject to imprisonment [IMG]

Of course, they also mentioned that their server logs show a lot of links to their site coming from people viewing degreeinfo... traffic which, to most people would be a good thing, but somehow, they don't see it that way.

So... on the off chance that they *are* legitimate (I know...) they have been invited to provide the regulars here with the names of all of the schools to which they refer students, the total number of students enrolled as a result of their referrals, and the percentage enrollments at each school.

If it turns out that we're all wrong and they refer everyone to GAAP schools... well, we will have learned something.

So, it will be interesting to see what happens next.

Say, isn't hemlock the traditional penalty in Greece for saying things people don't like to hear?

Be afraid, Chip. None of this "I owe a cock to Levicoff" humor will do.

I know nothing about this issue or this organization but I sure enjoy Oyzo (took the spelling off the Greek liquor bottle my secretary brought back for me) and lamb kabobs.

On the other hand some of the people there are rather radical. I believe they held all night prayer vigils praying that the apostate cultic pope would not set foot on their shores. All this over the filioque and some unruly murderous crusaders several hundered years ago. Can't we all get along [IMG] Pita Gyros & Oyzo for everyone.

I think the English translation is "Uzo". In any case, I rather doubt that we'll be seeing the degreeinfo.com administrators being led away in handcuffs anytime soon. [IMG]

So they are telling us that if we say anything unflattering about them they will fly us to Greece at their expense?

I always wanted to see that country, so I'll say that they seem to have copied text from the ARRC and HERI websites.

If they are going to rip off text from a lame marketing front for an unrecognized university, they can't very well feign surprise when people assume that they are a lame marketing front for some unrecognized university too. What were they expecting?

I'm looking forward to visiting Athens.

I was guessing that it was actually the same people that are behind HERI/ARRC (is it Hamilton?) with a different office, to better serve the european community. Or, as we've seen with Trinity, it could be a franchise.

One of the most amusing parts is the 293* different email addresses, one for each major country, where you send to the appropriate one for information. How much would anyone like to wager that they all go to the exact same place? Or maybe the US ones go to HERI.

    *number approximated.
