In what could possibly be John's final consulting gig before DL retirement, he was featured in a front page article in a local paper near Boston, the Patriot Ledger. The article is accompanied by pictures of Laurel and Hardy in "A Chump at Oxford", with the caption "at least they had to show up for class".

Hmmm. They must have changed the link, because when I went to it, there was an article about a 69 year old guy suspended from his job as library trustee for discussing his recent surgery with the libarary director.

This, under the town's rules (and not the library director's complaint), constitutes sexual harassment.

I kept reading, trying to figure out where John's commentary fit into this, but then I finally realized that it was the wrong article [IMG]

    From the article:

Brain Transplant Leads to Sexual Harrassment Charge at Library

Pedro Navalgas, 69, was arrested Tuesday when he attempted to describe his recent brain transplant to local librarian Hildegard Blini. Navalgas made medical history last month when he received the brain of Klaus Makalani, Ph.D., renowned radioastronomer, who had died in the ferris wheel collapse at the fairgrounds, so that Navalgas could enroll in the new M.I.T. home study Ph.D. in radioastronomy. World famous distance learning expert John Bear has long championed the transplanting of brains into dimwitted distance learning students, to improve their chances of success. Bear told us he that he had counseled Navalgas to get his transplant, but warned him that if Makalani had an overdeleloped hypothalamus, discussion of the transplant might result in sexual harrassment charges.

And this from a follow-up the article:

Famed surgeon Dr. Lobitoff, who performed the procedure, stated in a press conference: “We hold Dr Bear solely responsible for the surgery taking much more time than we had originally anticipated. If he had informed us in advance that Dr. Makalani’s degree was from a ‘less-than-wonderful’ school, we would not have spent an inordinate amount of time searching the cranium for the brain; we would’ve headed directly for another part of the donor’s anatomy.” [IMG]

Does this explain why discussion of the transplant might result in sexual harassment charges? How will this impact Pedro’s chances of obtaining his degree from M.I.T.? Could this explain Dr. Bear’s sudden retirement and flight to distant parts of the globe? Will this result in lawsuit number nine? Does Tuva have an extradition treaty with the United States? Will Dr. Bear ever perfect his recipe for sheep eyeballs?

    Stay tuned… [IMG]
