This article today in the Australian http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/printpage/0,5942,2108684,00.html Cheers, George ------------------ Virtual Universities of Australasia & the World www.virtualuniversities.net [email protected]
Yes, but they say "...He said that from what he saw during a review of the university, much of the work it was accepting at doctoral standard "would not pass muster at high school...". But maybe it would at a US high school which then begs the question would it pass muster at a low end RA first degree? Maybe our standards are too high?
George, Either no one gives a flying waddayoucallit or everyone is too polite to comment. Which is it? PF
If anyone wants or needs to look up "cached" copies of dead Web pages, you can look them up at google.com. It might take some careful sleuthing/searching to find cached copies of all of a site's pages.
I am trying to follow this Greenwich debate. Peter French, could you rephrase your letters? I'm not at all sure what you are trying to tell us. Bets wishes Bernard Leeman
It isn't a debate - there is nothing to debate. FACTS ARE: 1. Greenwich used to be upheld as a viable alternative to RA Institutions when in the US DE were only 2 consequitive letters of the alphabet. 2. Greenwich Has failed to meet Australian AQF standards - refer Australian atricle above. 3. Greenwich has had its Doctoral work compared to high school papers - see Australian article above. 4. Greenwich has approached many Private Institutions who are registered to issue nationally accredited qualifications and suggested that these organisations could state the Greenwich University has also OK'd the courses. 5. In the meantime Greenwich sits near the graves of the crew of the Bounty on an isolated Island in the Pacific Ocean with its 2 page Act of Parliament presumably wondering what to do next. That is the guts of what I said - the rest either had or didn't have any significance for the readers. ------------------ Peter French MEd MAcc(UNE)CMA Melbourne, Australia [email protected]
Starmustgo, I know how to pull up "dead" web pages ... my point was this: Did they close up shop? Or take themselves off of the 'net for whatever reason? Peter, What does #1 mean? (Two letters?) (Sorry ... it's early. The brain does not function until at least 10AM EST)
Peter, Perhaps John Walsh would give you an honorary Greenwich doctorate if you would go easy on the school. There could even be employment opportunities for you. Russell
The (NF) Greenwich site is still up and running at an alternative address: http://www.university.edu.nf/
ABC..."DE"...FG - get it? Here it has meant Distance Education without stigma for 12 decades. Peter French
EllisZ, I think your point was pretty crystal clear. While I thought my remark might be useful to yourself or others, I guess I will resist offering such unsolicited advice again, for fear that people will make huffy remarks, unless of course people specifically say, "Gee, I wish someone would tell me where I can find cached Web pages for seemingly dead sites."
Starmustgo, Whoa ... lighten up there buddy .... didn't mean to offend ya'. You did the same thing you thought that I did. While you were trying to be helpful I thought you had missed my point. So I clarified it. Now you assumed that my clarrification was intended as a slam of sorts ... which it was not. Heh heh ... kinda funny when you think about it. Sorry if you felt offended in any way.
