This is such a great site!!! A lot of good info. I just applied to Charter Oak State College, and I am awaiting their evaluation. I am seeking the BS w/ the concentration in Criminal Justice. I have 2 Associates degrees and well over 120 credits (including 21 Upper Division credits in CJ courses). I was wondering if it was possible to recieve a degree without taking any furthur tests or courses? I am hoping that my evaluation will tell me that my transfer credit met the grad requirements, so I don't have to take another course or test. But I am not sure this is possible. Does anybody know??? Thanks, SMALLS

It is definitely possible. As long as all your genereal education requirements are met, etc by their evaluation.

Not just GE requirements, but also make sure that your classes meet the concentration requirements.

I recently received my BS in Health Studies from COSC...I had a minor hang-up with one class (exam, actually) in my concentration. Once you've matriculated and received an advisor, they should be able to tell you exactly what classes/exams you need to meet the concentration requirements.

For what it's worth, I was 100% satisfied with my COSC experience.

Good point. I should have mentioned the concentration as well.

Well I am 99% confident that my transfer credit will meet both the GE & the concentration requirements. But I am worried that they might add a new requirement or something might pop up. What about the essay? Any insight into that (length, content, format, etc)?

    Thanks - SMALLS

The essay is for a degree in Individualized Studies. I turned in an essay that was rejected then one that was accepted. I posted both in a previuos thread - http://www.degreeinfo.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=16797

    Good luck

The requirements are different for anyone who enrolls after July 1,2004. You no longer have to write a concentration essay. When you submit your concentration, you have to send a resume and answer " some questions" about your concentration.
Toward the end of your pursuit, you write your Academic Autobiography. This is a paper of 750-1000 words about your entire degree and not just your concentration. Here is a link that will describe it better than I. At the bottom of the page is a link to a form that details what is expected and how it is graded.

    Hope this helps.
