    The Generale Polytechnic Institute claimed
its qualification is accepted by the
    international qualification framework
since 1979 ? What is it? Any comment?

The link doesn't work. I don't know of any "international qualification framework." I've never heard of this school. Allegedly a Canadian school, it quotes tuition in US dollars. The URL isn't Canadian. The owner is:

    MJG Management Consulting Services (GENERALE-CANADA-DOM)
T035, 3rd Floor, Sg. Wang Plaza, Jln.
    Sultan Ismail
    Kuala Lumpur, W.P. 55100
    MY

Every single faculty member is listed with a Ph.D. (none with any other types of doctorates, none without doctorates), but no sources of the degrees are listed.

    What do you think?

    The link is actually:

  3. Looking around http://www.generale-canada.com/introduction_all.htm I found that indeed all the faculty have PhD after their names, with a state in parentheses after that -- including "Illionois" and "Montano"

Odd tidbits from the staff listing:

-Starts with "Live Chairman: The late Honourable Professor John Wesley" Eh?

-Chancellor is "Brealey Myers" -- searching the web for this phrase, I find lots of links to and mentions of finance textbooks by Richard A. Brealey and Stewart C. Myers, none to "Brealey Myers" (except some Generale links).

-President and Chief Executive Officer is "Berman Evans" -- again lots of links, mentions, and associated websites for marketing/retailing texts by Barry Berman and Joel R. Evans, none to "Berman Evans" (except some Generale links).

The fee info shows several options, titled as "Scheme 1," "Scheme 2," etc. Scheme is definitely the right word to use here.

I note on page 215 of Bears' Guide, 14th ed., that their "campus" is a mailbox rental store called Mailbox Plus. What else does one need to know?

Incidentally, when I am gone, I have no problem with people quoting from Bears' Guide, or citing it as a reference. Just don't retype the entire book into one of these little boxes.

C'mon, John! Now you have destroyed my plan, which was to reprint the entire book with different pictures, cover, and font. I was then going to put my name on it, and give it a new title: Earning Credible Degrees: 1001 Ways to Spot and Expose a Degree Mill .

Oh Well, I'll have to try something else now! [IMG]

I did a google search on a dozen of the "faculty" and the only reference to show up anywhere for all names was as a faculty member of this esteemed university.

I'll guarantee a google searh on a dozen legitimate PhD's would return a fair amount of URLs pointing to publications, workshops, etc.

"LIVE CHAIRMAN" - this rings a bell, but what? So does the gentelman's name. It goes back a bit - someone?

That ruins my plan as well. I was going to retype the entire book with the same pictures only claim that I was the winner on the picture caption contests.

I was going to steal the pictures and send them to everyone in the U.A.E. in lieu of the "Hustler" subsciptions they ordered.

The reason he's late (for class) is that he lived during most of the 18th century and hasn't been seen since. He started the Methodist church, though, so he really is the crown jewel of their faculty.

Very Nice: An Einstein School of Science, Gandhi Graduate School of Liberal Studies, Edison School of Engineering and an Alfred P. Sloan School of Liberal Studies (undergrad apparently).

    Love that PhD from Montano.

Gerstl points out "...Gandhi Graduate School of Liberal Studies..."

The literature I have refers to the "Mohandass (sic) Gandhi Graduate School..."

And I thought he was affiliated with the estimable University of Bums on Seats (still going strong at www.cynicalbastards.com/ubs)
