I made a rather interesting discovery today in my discussions with the Ph.D. Director (Business Administration) at Touro University International. She indicated that all new students to the program will have to take a comprehensive exam after completing the coursework and before proceeding in earnest to the dissertation.

It's too late to add a synthesis course to prepare students for the exam, but they are willing to do something like an inter-session seminar to assist students in preparing.

As I thought about this, it looks like there is more of a shift to having the program reflect what more traditional universities are doing. This is a great move, I believe, and further think it will enhance the credibility of the program.

Incidentally, the model (as I believe Dr. Eli has pointed out) is the Cornel model. I rather like it. It seems like TUI is on the right track.
