I plan on getting my BA in Journalism from TESC, although my interest is Public Relations. I noticed that Ohio University offers something called a Bachelor of Specialized Studies (BSS), which will let you design your own major. The catch is it can't be a major currently offered by the school via the B&M route. My thought was perhaps looking into going for a BSS in something like Corporate Communications or Business Communications. Than again, a Journalism degree may offer me more fexibility.

Does anybody here have any experience with Ohio University or the BSS? How was it received by potential employers?

    No experience with Ohio U.

IIRC, the deal is that the BSS can't duplicate, in content or title, a B&M degree but can come close.

If you have an interest in "testing out" some courses then, IIRC, OU accepts CLEPs completed before enrollment and DANTES not at all.

This thread has some more info.
