Interesting that the article tends to compare RA and DETC accreditation, but it gives a general impression that both can be quite acceptable, given the right circumstance. I'd love to see everyone's reaction to this article. Not sure if there's anything groundbreaking in it or not.

    I like this:
"The degree (CVN students) earn is identical to what the offline students are getting," says Evan Jacobs, marketing manager for CVN. "The modality is secondary; the content is what's important and it's exactly the same."

Well, as long as the marketing manager from Columbia Video Network says so......I guess it's true.

Interesting article. I am just about to graduate from Thomas Edison with a BA. I've been wondering a lot about the acceptance of these degrees myself. The only thing is I can't even say online school because I have never taken an online course or any course from TESC directly for that matter. I've used the word "distance education" and people cock thier heads like they don't know what I'm talking about.

The word, credit aggregator would require a lot of explaination. Even to friends and relatives I don't know how to tell them I've been going to school. The question comes up "Where did you go to school?" "Thomas Edison State"..............."OH? Where's dat?" ......."it's down in Jersey, in Trenton..."........."Oh how is it? I didn't know your down'in Jersey now!"

What I'm getting at there is I have to tell them it's a non-traditional degree eventually or it will come up in conversation somehow, even in the workplace. I've actually never stepped foot on the campus before.

I'm glad TESC has the word STATE in the name which I think will help a lot and one of the reasons why I chose the school. I'm thinking of using the word "external degree program" that sounds OK...
