I would appreciate feedback regarding doctoral programs, either Ed.D or Ph.D, that would enable one to perform organizational /individual consultancy and coaching. Are doctoral programs in Organizational Leadership an adequate substitute for a degree in Organizational Psychology? I noticed that NCU has a doctor of education program with a specialization in Organizational Leadership. There isn't any oral defense necessary for the comprehensive exam or for the project oriented dissertation. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Simon

Hi Simon. I checked into the NCU Ed.D. program in organizational leadership. If you do not have a graduate degree or (30) graduate credits in education, you must take the 81 credit program. If you do have the degree it looks like a great program.

The way the program is designed, the degree would open doors as a consultant.

    From the NCU website :

This specialization has broad appeal among educators whose professional goal may include consulting or a generalist leadership position in corporate, educational, government, not-for-profit, or community organizations.

    Hope this helps.

Are there any other US or foreign doctoral degree programs in organizational Consultancy or Organizational Leadership that can be completed entirely online or through distance self-directed studies?

Also do the majority of Ed.D/Ph.D programs require an oral defense of the comprehensive examination? Thanks.

Wouldn't an organizational consultancy PhD be similar to a DBA?
