Hate to sound like I am cutting corners or lazy, but which of the following two is the easiest Statistics exam:

    DANTES versus EXCELSIOR EXAM

    Also versus TECEP (Statistics)

    Also versus TECEP (Statistics)

    Thomas Edison State College Exam

This is a two-hour examination in which you must answer 100 multiple-choice questions (worth 1 point each).
A passing score is 55 out of 100 points.

  3. The main advantage for some people for the Dantes version is that it is untimed, and taken on paper. It's also considerably less expensive. In my case the Dantes testing center was much better as well - a quiet, individual room to test in rather than a crowded set of cubes for a Thompson Prometric center.

Although I didn't take the Excelsior version I bought the learning guide and it looked to be more in depth than the Dantes test description, but it's hard to say. In any case I suspect either version is pretty challenging.

    Cheers,
    Mark

Another issue is that the EXCELSIOR test provides many of the formulas, whereas the DANTES doesn't, so you will have to memorize quite a lot of the formulas if you want to pass the DANTES...

Re: Re: DANTES versus EXCELSIOR EXAM (Statistics)

I couldn't have said it better myself. I took the DSST version. But either would have been free, if you take them while on active duty @ your on-base educational services office.

I remember cramming for 2-3 days straight for this exam, while working overnight shift; then took a brief nap and waited until noon to take the exam.

I took 3.5 hours total to take that test (half asleep, other half making sure I had correct answers). I remember hugging the proctor after he scanned my answer sheet (base testing offices sometimes have a 'pass/fail' scanner. exact score comes in the mail in 4-6 weeks). I was so tired and overjoyed, simultaneously.

I do NOT recommend others do the same (little sleep or cramming). I was on a time schedule, only had limited slots to test, and had to maximize every opportunity I got.

The only formulas I remember having to know are linear regression line-related formulas and test for significance formulas. A total of about 5-6. Don't let that intimidate you one bit. They are as basic fomulas for intro statistics as the quadratic equation is for trigonometry.

So all in all, both tests should be about the same. So for your "test out" plan (assuming your school accepts either), take the cheaper one first. Then if you fail, then take the other one as a backup.

    BTW, I cut a 61 on it.

Now for other tests like DSST organizational behavior vs ECE organizational behavior, the stakes are a little different. The content of the tests are identical, but the DSST version is considered lower level credit, ECE one is considered upper level credit.

So (assuming your school accepted both), it would be to your advantage to pass the ECE version. For Excelsior college, this would satisfy the 'organizational behavior' requirement AND count towards the upper-level business electives. The DSST version would ONLY count towards the 'organizational behavior' requirement.

BTW2, I cut A's on both versions of that test.

    Hope this gouge helps.
