My question revolves around tradition schools offering PhD DL options. Do any offer such a program? My background is the following I have a BS from Southern Illinois University, MBA from National University (not the greatest school, but the military paid for it) Now I'm getting out of the Navy and wish to obtain a PhD in the Organizational/Strategic Management or Knowledge Management field for the purpose of organizational/knowledge management consulting for a large firm such as Booze and Allen etc. I checked out the RA DL PhD schools: Fielding, Nova, Saratoga, Touro, Capella but I'm hesitant to enroll since I’m not familiar if these schools will be accepted in the business community? I would like to peruse a PhD but I’m not really looking forward to sitting in a classroom for hours upon hours a week and DL looks to be my only option. Any help would be appreciated, btw I’m in California.

    John,

There has been much debate here on the topic of acceptability of DL schools in the business world. Look through the archives. It seems some have commented that in some cases it matters and in others it does not. If the choice is not getting the degree or getting a DL degree I certainly would get the accredited DL degree. Assuming you mean Sarasota and not Saratoga, all the options you list are accredited. They each may have qualities which commend them to you. Do a *search* here as they have been discussed (especially Nova & Touro).

You might check out Northcentral University. I believe (I could be wrong)their business Ph.D. has the concentration you are looking for. http://www.ncu.edu

Northcentral is very affordable & totally DL. However, they are supposed to be getting candidacy with an regional accreditor but that is not a guarentee of achieving RA.

    North,

Thanks for the reply, I'm still considering all the DL options. I recieved a few packages in the mail and will spend a few days reviewing the different schools. I looked into NCU and the program would fit my schedule and pocketbook, now if they just became RA it would all work out.

    Thanks,
    John
