Simple pleasures. While getting ready for Mongolia departure, I found, in a suitcase not used for 3 or 4 years, a Polaroid photo I took of a place associated with an, um, institution of higher learning. I thought I'd lost it. A few folks with excellent memories of the a.e.d. days may remember this matter, and enjoy seeing the photo, which I've posted at: http://homepages.about.com/johnbear/contest/ Grand and only prize of an actual postcard sent from Mongolia to the first person who identifies the school. (Do it here, not in private Email, please.) Full marks (and perhaps a postcard from Tuva, too) for the full name of the school, not just the name they use publicly.
I must admit that I'm very jealous of who ever wins the contest. I'm especially looking forward to finding out the name of the lovely school. Let me guess since it won't cost anything. The "Bad Dog" sign is in English so how about Oxford? (Isn't Oxford in England where they speak English?)
The George Brown College of Greenwich University? Maybe though, i am confused with what whathisname has in store for George or even Gallagher if they dare to enter the premises Peter French
Crap. The only John Bear contest question I actually know the answer to, and Lowell beats me to the answer If I'm not mistaken, this is the same "school" whose campus was a house with the front door open and no one home, and a rusted school bus or something next to it.
Lowell Kinzer asks, "Would that be St. John's University of Practical Theology in Springfield, LA?" It would indeed, on "University Circle," (the one-lane road, past the rusty school buses), not far from the CrawGator Lounge. Send me a mailing address, Lowell, so I can do the honors. ([email protected] or fax 510-528-4254). And a prize of some sort, I guess, for Bill Highsmith, who sent me a "PhotoShopped" version of my picture, with a Michigan State University sign installed.
