I thought I would post this in case it helps anyone. Below is a question I posed to the CA State Personnel board.

I just have a general question I was hoping you could answer. I notice some of your Departments job listings ask for a degree from a recognized Accredited University. Would a degree granted by the DETC meet your Criteria?

    Here is their answer.

I checked our book on Accredited colleges and universities. DETC is listed in our reference book, the "Accredited Insitutions of
Postsecondary Education Program Candidates", as a recognized accrediting body. Therefore, the State would recognize units and/or a degree from an institution accredited by DETC.

    Take care,Abner :)

I would suspect this is a common--although certainly not universal--response. Of course, one doesn't have to ask such questions of regionally accredited schools. And that's the point, right?

By the way, the DETC doesn't grant degrees. Schools accredited by DETC do.

You are absolutely correct, I did not use the right choice of words.
