It just seems that everyone working on the admin side of AIU-online is incompetent. Two months ago I requested that my transcripts be sent out to a different school. Apparently they decided to have it shipped DHL which does not deliver to PO Boxes. So of course the transcripts were return to sender (AIU). This did not alarm any of the admin staff because nothing was done about it. They did not resend it with a different carrier or even bother to contact me to let me know that it was returned. Instead I assumed that the new school had lost it or it was lost in the mail. So I again requested my transcripts to be sent out. Again the same story took place. This time I was able to get a hold of somebody who admitted that this is indeed what happened. Thier solution to the problem was for me to pay once again the transcript request fee and they would send it regular mail. I would not be reimbursed the two previous fees and they would not send it express mail because they do not have an account with anybody but DHL. I could not believe that they could not figure out how to ship a letter to a PO BOX. Once again AIU has amazed me with thier stellar performance.

    AIU's Problems

Considering your recent problems with AIU, how was their teaching? Would you use them again? What did you major in?

    Thanks,

    Joeh

Well let me put it this way. I don't go to AIU for an education. I go there to get a RA degree fast through classwork. The only way to do it faster is through credit by examination.
Would I go there again. Hmmmm I don't know. I guess that depends if I can into law school or not. I mean now that my transcripts are nearly two months late my chances of admission are diminishing and its due to AIU's incompetence. It's really hard to put up with the constant follies that AIU produces and for the price there really shouldn't be any. If there was an alternative that provided the same time line with credits given through classwork I would defenitly try them out.

By the way I majored in Business Administration Accounting/Finance. I have to say that while most of the teachers seem well qualified the syllabus leaves a little to be desired. I don't think I have taken a class yet that I could even feel comfortable discussing with brick and motor student. Yet I have recieved a 4.0 throughout the program. I think it has to due with the fact that there is just not enough time to cover enough subjects or the proper depth of instruction.

For an effective response from American Intercontinental University Online, you may file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. To report AIU, just do a search for American Intercontinental University at http://search.bbc.org/search.html

They are listed at the Better Business Bureau as American Intercontinental University online.

From my experience, complaining to better business bureaus just result in your letter being thrown in the trash. Just another whiny customer.

If you actually want to complain to someone so they will take notice, you need to complain to the appropriate agency at the state or accreditation level.

Thanks C130nav for your comments. Would you be willing to tell me what your previous ed background is? Do you maybe have a BS in Accounting to compare with?

I have been very interested in the MBA Finance option and I like it because of the speed, so at this point, would you recommend it to anyone, barring consideration of the transcript snafu?

How many hours per week did you put into the work?

    Thanks,

    Joeh

I agree with you in regards to filing complaints with the appropriate accrediting agency.

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) has served me well. Many years ago, I reported three fortune 500 corporations and a brokerage firm to the BBB. As a result, I have received letters of apologies and compliance from all four companies.

    AIU

    Wow!

Looks like you had some difficulty.

I have always found AIU to be excellent in handling my responses. Yes they do have difficulty in regard to turnover of admin staff as does just about every other business, school, and organization in the country.

I have always asked for a supervisor level employee in the past in regard to any admin request. This has always proved successful since I handle most from email.

Would I return, well, yes. Would I refer them? Yes.

    Good Luck,

    Dave
