I have begun to blog about my experience with distance learning law. I sent my check today and I start studying next week.

I've been all over the map lately but I finally made a decision which I am going to try my darnedest to stick to. There's some good information and links on it, and I plan to add more as time permits. I hope to have a treasure trove of data and info on dl law school eventually.

Wish me luck. Please be sure to leave a comment or two. I really enjoy hearing what people think, even if they disagree with me. Oh, and if you think I'm a total nutcase, think law sucks, or believe lawyers eat newborns, please say so on my blog so I can use that for encouragement.

In fact, all of you who think ABA or nothing, PLEASE post a comment on my blog.

Good luck. I will be checking that blog from time to time.
What school did you get accepted to?
Will you work as a lawyer upon graduation or stay as a programmer?

    I finally understand your hesitation concerning a degree path... you're a woman :p ;) :)
    Good luck, Ma'am!

    Your Blog site looks great

I look forward to your story as it unfolds. What was your reasoning to go toTaft instead of Oak Brook? DETC?

I picked Taft. I plan to stay a programmer as long as I can. Age discrimination is very real though, so I'm just planning for the eventuality. Trouble is, we make our own truth...

I try so hard to hide it because I am such a knuckle head...I don't want to be a poor example to my gender! Decision-making isn't my strong suit, I admit.

    Nice blog

    agingBetter,

I enjoyed skimming through your blog, and will visit it from time to time to watch your progress. Nicely done!

    Cheers,
    Adrienne

P.S. SnafuRacer, care to clarify your snarky comment about women?

It was the respect David Boyd gets on this forum, the letter of acceptance, and DETC accreditation, roughly in that order.

The letter I got letting me know I was accepted into the program was refreshing, in that they implicitly promised not to harrass me with phone calls while I thought about it. They were also extremely responsive to my questions, and I already knew they weren't BS'ing me because I had done the research. Great bunch of people there.

agingBetter, you most certainly are an excellent example to both genders through your courage and determination. Keep us updated on your progress!

    Cheers,
    Adrienne

P.S. Whilst I don't think lawyers eat newborn babies, I do suspect they do a lot of the spit-turnin'! :D

    Thanks, aarbrooks!

I'm a little nervous and anticipating a LOT of work...the key though, will be to stick it out 'til completion.

I am going to have to get one of those hokey Franklin Covey inspirational quote thingies...

...and watching Law and Order reruns will not count toward my study hours. Dang!

Relax, it was just a little tongue-in cheek sarcasm. I thought the emoticons attached at the end would relieve the sentence from any gender discrimination-related ambiguity. Apparently, it didn't. Darn this Internet...LOL!!

Besides, this indecision is not only confined to women.
I just dropped the rest of my MBA classes, and am having a "hard time" deciding on what to study for a Master's now. I keep swaying between 2-3 areas.
So I have respect for agingBetter in researching her interests, not being afraid to ask and inquire about them, and making the decision. Again, good luck Ma'am.

No harm done, SnafuRacer -- perhaps I'm just a bit touchy right now given that I'm doing the same thing -- was nicely ensconced in a Ph.D. program, and am now taking leave to take a couple of classes in a master's program in an unrelated field . . . and am of that durned female persuasion! :) It's nice to know that I'm not the only one contemplating a complete change. I think I must be going through an early mid-life crisis, percipitated by my divorce . . . I didn't think these crises happened in the late 30's -- wasn't expecting mine for at least 10 years! ;)

    Cheers,
    Adrienne

P.S. I think snarkiness is a good characteristic to have!
