I like BYU's independent study offerings but my school was not impressed and what take the credit. Any other institutions like this offering similar programs?

    Many other options.

What subject area? What degree level?

Your school won't take units from Brigham Young University? I'm guessing that they would be clearly in the minority on this one. I took a class from them via independent study and my school accepted it with no problem whatsoever.

I would ask my school what their objection was.

Were the BYU courses missing required lab experiences? Did the BYU syllabus diverge too radically from what your school covers in its own courses?

If you choose someplace besides BYU you could run into the exact same problem if the objection wasn't BYU-specific and concerned delivery format or course design.

The problem isn't necessarily with BYU per se. My school won't give me advanced approval on the course until they see the coursework I've completed. They will then decide if it's worthy of credit or not. This is fine except that I don't want to waste 300 bucks on something that's not going to get me credit. Other institutions, such as UNC have courses that they are willing to give prior approval on.

I'm basically just looking for another institution that offers similar things to BYU. I'm interested mostly in History and Financial courses.

    Thanks!

I'm a little surprised that they'd want to see your completed BYU coursework before granting credit, but say they'd accept other courses without this restriction. Could you get a course study guide on loan from BYU for them to examine? That might convince them whether the course content merits accepting it as transfer credit.
