    RE: Kensington University[/CO

This pertains to discussions on Kensington University, It is what prompted me to join this site.

I graduated from the school in 1979 and have been VERY pleased with the results, It was paid for by the Federal government, and I was employed in that staus for more than 20 years.

Frozen shite from an airplane toilet

    Crap!

I am so delighted that you ripped off me, a taxpayer, by getting the government to pay for your crappy degree mill "degree," and by accruing whatever financial benefits you got from the public trough by virtue of this disgraceful stuff.

Your post gives a new meaning to "dishonorable discharge."

It's not about my feelings. It's about your shamelessness over a degree mill degree. Clean up your act before you start ya-ya-ing about emotions. You elicit no emotion in me. I simply want to label your crap as crap before some other newbie mistakes it for a tootsie roll. And you can start all the repetitive threads you want. It doesn't matter to me at all.

If you want to elicit emotion in me, make out a check to the US Treasury for the amount you got from the rest of us--plus interest--and send it in.

    Other than that, fuggedabahdit.

Uncle Janko is especially grumpy today, I think. There are many dozens of people practicing law in California today based on a Kensington law degree. The original Kensington was and I think is owned by a law firm. On the other hand, there are a great many people who question the validity of a Kensington degree, including more than 99% of college registrars, based on my year-2000 survey.

If UNH indeed accepted it, I would assume this was on an individual case basis, since it is inconceivable to me that they would have a regular policy of accepting all unaccredited California-authorized degrees, perhaps especially from a school that has the distinction of being the first major player that had its license revoked by the state.

I trust you are now retired, in which case you can consider yourself very fortunate to have made it out before the current crusade against federal employees with such degrees.

I think that in 1979 time frame Kensington University was valid choice.

This is an example of a real school that went down with the time.

I strongly disagree with uncle janko comments; remember that at one time Kensington graduates had 60% pass rate on bar exams.

They did enjoy a level of recognition in state of California, in time when availability of DL and Non-traditional universities was very limited.

In late 70's and early 80's many professionals viewed this schools as a possible second-rate or les lucrative alternative.

The degree from Pacific Western or CCU and others was valid alternative; in 1990 in California the view was that State approved schools are equivalent to Accredited degrees.

The official CA State booklet from 1990 on its final page has this statement.

Based upon your login, I assume the Air Force paid for it? If so, it was contrary to Air Force regulations, which stipulated then (as they do today) that tuition assistance benefits could only be used at accredited (and candidate) schools.

As for UNH accepting it, good for you. (Seriously, not sarcastically.)

I think that mistakes do happen.

No to long ego a student with SRU degree was accepted to B&M
RA University and after inquiries she was demised.

Unlike in late 70's today Registers are more aware and trained to spot sub standard school graduates.

Harvard for example may accept an individual in their Graduate school even if that person is not a holder of Bachelors degree.

But this is not a policy.

    Partial palinode

Today is Guru's birthday, so a hedged palinode is somewhat commemorative.

If, as John Bear indicates, Kensington was at one time a respectable unaccredited school, then I withdraw my comment about the thread-starter being a patron of a degree mill.

If he violated then-existing USAF regulations stipulating that reimbursement could only be licitly obtained for an accredited degree, he should still return the money to the US Treasury. If so, my "moral pipsqueak" comment stands. If not, I withdraw that as well.

However, to extol a school which has since become derisory without making a clear distinction between its respectable (distant) past and its highly dubious present is profoundly misleading. Without ascribing intention, once more in light of Dr Bear's comments, the thread-starter's failure to make a clear distinction between past and present is tantamount to shilling by default.

Or confusing turds and tootsie rolls.

Dr. Bear, it is indeed a pleasure to communicate with you. I have purchased your books and have made decisions based upon your written advice. I did graduate from Kensington in 1979. UNH did accept my degree without any special exception in 1980. I clearly do recognize that times have changed and the internet has made researching schools much easier for other Universities. I am also a graduate of the Community College of the Air Force, AAS, Thank you for your reply. As for the uncle janco, ho-hum.

It would be interesting to see how many graduates of Kensington University who can be Googled graduated in the halcyon days of yore, and how many more recently.

It would be interesting to know when the halcyon days ended, exactly.

I was a member of the site review team for the State of California that found evidence that resulted in Kensington losing California approval.

More detailed information can be found in the following published court decision:

KENSINGTON UNIVERSITY, Plaintiff and Appellant, v. COUNCIL FOR PRIVATE POSTSECONDARY AND VOCATIONAL EDUCATION et al., Defendants and Respondents.

    Kensington Grads Googled

OK, I googled the first ten pages of "kensington university" looking for graduates.
I specifically looked for the exact degree and date of the degree. There were enough persons in the first ten pages that I believed there's enough for a representative sample.
How many more appear on google, I do not know.

    What is listed here:
Initial of surname, institution shown on the web, degree name, degree specialization (usually shown), date (if shown).
"No field" means no field or degree specialization shown on the web page viewed; it should not be taken to mean a degree granted w/o a specific field label.
Occasionally the source of other degrees is mentioned if I recalled that the other school has been a topic of discussion here.

My conclusion: none. I leave that to the rest of you. Everything here is public record, almost all from faculty or professional blurbs, so likely based on information supplied by the persons listed. I place neither a positive nor a negative spin. This is not applause. It is also not "outing." It is just a list.
