    Hi everyone!

I was considering attending American Intercontinental University online for my bachelor's degree in business. However, a friend of mine recently left AIU due to numerous problems; false info given, accreditation warning status, and the overall reputation.

I was curious if her problems were an isolated incident or common practice.

*I was wondering if there is anyone who is either currently attending AIU online or already graduated who can shed some light on their experiences, good or bad.

*Also, has anyone had problems transfering their AIU courses to other schools?

*Is an AIU degree reputable in the job marketplace, is it perceived as a good school to employers?

*Has anyone had problems being accepted into a well known master's program elsewhere with their AIU undergrad degree?

*Is the name American Intercontinental University good or bad? Does it sound professional or unprofessional?

    Thanks!!

I attended 2 classes at AIU. I'll give you my assessment. The work was moderate, some difficult, some easy. I thought the grading was on the easy side, but mostly fair. I liked the 5 week classes, and the 13 month degree completion. Their warning status has been removed.

The major item that I ended up dropping out for was the cost. If you look at the curriculum, if you go in with an associates, to get a bachelor's degree requires like 10 classes. If you go to transfer, they look at classes that have been taken, so that could be an issue. I'll let you know Most everywhere else it’s like double that. So, yes its fast, but for what you spend ($28,000+) I couldn't justify the cost. Especially if you are like me and wanting to get a Masters afterward and spend even more money.

Everyone has their own opinions, but that is mine. Hope that helps.

    AIU

    Went there w/ transfer credits.

    Finished both AABA and BBA.

Being RA, my degree was accepted for grad certificates and degrees at:

    Northern Illinois University
    DeVry - Keller Grad
    Tulane Certificate
    University Maryland University College
    and
    Georgia State.

As far as admin problems -

I have not dealt with any college yet that was not at the least a mild pain in the tushy. Either they are for profit and moving at lightning speed to process people, or they are state schools with workers who take their darn sweet time since they are on the state dole and feel the world owes them a life.
Either way, we all have to work through the maze.

Taking the attitude of expecting the unexpected while looking for positive result will make things work.

As far as cost. Yep, it is high. But then again AIU quotes, classes, books, and fees in package form. Other universities look cheaper (some are) but once you get slammed with hidden fees, unexpected tuition costs, and other goodies, it washes out in the end to being close if not equal.

All in all, I am glad I went.....

Like anything, one must "check things out" to their satisfaction.

    Good Luck,

    Dave
