    Hello,

I read that it's important that the University in medical field better be listed with WHO.

    What is WHO?

    Thanks

    Well I was close. :D

You may want to do a search for who listed or medical schools. I think Bill Dayson and somebody named Dean Houston (?) have posted a lot on medical schools. If you can find Dean's post I think he has a link to his website which has information on bogus medical schools.

    Who

Yes I think that the two institutions are linked. One of the honourary Doctorates that was conferred along with them was on the British Sci-fi character Dr Who who now not only lends his name to the World Health Organization but probably may even work for them from time to time.

    Thanks for the info.
I like the rock group as well ;-).
And remember the controversy of the images found on his PC - so called research.

The reason I asked is because my Indian friend pointed me this link.
He had questions about medical schools in Russia, many students from India atend Russian universities.

The info on this site was confusing to me.

    WHO

How it works is that the govt. of a country has to tell the World Health Organization in Switzerland that a school is recognized in their country. It doesn't mean that the school is of value,etc....only recognized. Best way to check out a school for we US/Canadian folks is to look it up in FAIMER which is run by ECFMG, the folks who you have to get past if you are a foreign grad. Go to:

    http://imed.ecfmg.org/

with that said and done, many Indians end up being victimized by these Russian schools. They are cheap ($2500-3500/year including crude room and board) but are dangerous (skinheads galore and anti-foreigner feelings abound). The reason that Indians go there is because to get into most of the Indian schools you have to pay a bribe, often as much as $20,000.

Personally I'd prefer a Czech or Polish school just because the living is better. Also those schools can get you into the UK or other EU countries these days.

Hope that is helpful. If you need help feel free to PM me or visit my webpage showing schools NOT to go to at www.internetmedicalschool.homestead.com
