I have a family member that has a BS degree in Management and she wants to pursue CPA certification. Does anyone know a regionally accredited DL school that offers an accounting major and will accept a majority of her credits so she can satisfy the Texas CPA educational requirements? She’s trying to take the minimum amount of accounting classes at a DL school that’s not too expensive. Thanks! Trish
I urge you to read the information available at Texas State Board of Public Accountancy, especially the Application of Intent Process, p.7 (c). It is my understanding that Texas requires "physical attendance" in 15 hours of accounting courses, so distance-learning courses may not fulfill the requirement.
Tx CPA Ed. Requirements Thanks, Alex, for the link to the Tx Board of Accountancy. Too bad they require 15 hours of seat time at a university.
Wow. I'm trying to do something similar, but in my state (Illinois) I don't believe they explicitly exclude distance learning. Is/was there someone or some group that lobbied against distance learning for CPAs or what? What do they have against it?
