Its been over 18 years since I left college and I am now trying to finish at a local adult program. I need just a few more credits. I'm looking at the Dantes tests. I've read a few threads...Here's to your Health seems to be the easiest to pass. Is there another easy exam? I've found Passport.com study guides so I have access to that too. Thanks for your help! kat n cols Although old dogs can learn new tricks it is better to learn them while you are still a pup!
I have passed quite a few exams without any study. Look at these exams- DANTES Intro to Criminal Justice DANTES Intro to Law Enforcement DANTES Intro to Computing DANTES Tech Writing DANTES Intro to Business DANTES Here’s to you Health DANTES Ethics DANTES MIS CLEP English w/essay Also checkout this website- http://www.dantes.doded.mil/dantes_web/examinations/dssts.htm What I did was look at the exams that had the highest passing rate and took those exams for quick electives. That is for DANTES, CLEP, and ECE exams.
Randell, I'm not sure that DANTES MIS would be an easy exam for someone that doesn't have a fair amount of IT experience - especially without study. Two complementary exams are the DANTES Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement exams - there's enough overlap to tackle them both in a short period of time (with or without study). One exam that I found easy, and that others seem to agree with, is the CLEP Analyzing and Interpreting Literature. It gives you 6 credit hours to boot, reducing your exam count by one. The CLEP Info Systems and Applications exam is in line with the DANTES Computing exam, so there's another option available. katncols, do you need a certain score to receive credit or just the ACE recommended passing grade? Do you care what grade you get? Cheers, Mark
Ypui are right, the MIS exam may not be easy for anyone without studying. Disregard that exam as an easy one
Is the CLEP Analyzing and Interpreting Literature exam an essay exam? I'm not sure what score would be required on this test. I believe Here's to your health requires 60%. I would care about the grade but I thought just the credits carried over. Thanks to all for your assistance.
Analyzing & Interpreting Lit I think 50 is passing. I took this cold about a week ago and scored a 74, so I'd say it's easy. I do read a lot, mostly for info--not much time for pleasure. I've heard some say they didn't have time to finish, but I had 25 minutes to spare. The trick is not to get bogged down in a question. If I couldn't answer pretty quickly, I marked it and came back at the end. (I love computerized testing!) You'll be amazed how often you think "well duh" when you come back to a question that originally gave you trouble. Good luck.
Analyzing & Interpreting Lit It's multiple choice--no essay. Also easy, unless you've been living under a rock, are Dantes Here's to Your Health and CLEP Information Systems and Computer Applications.
Are you a certified scuba diver? Most divers don't realize that they can get ACE credit for that scuba course they took on vacation in Florida or whereever years ago. Here's a list of the ACE approved courses for PADI: http://www.padi.com/english/common/courses/credit/ace.asp If you were YMCA scuba certified you can get credit through Springfield College: http://www.ymcascuba.org/ymcascub/scuba.html I'm not sure how NAUI handles credit for their courses. You'll have to ask them.
Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement QUESTION FIRST: Are the DANTES Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement tests considered duplicate credits for TESC?????? I took the sample exams to both and got all right on one and one weong on the other........ Is the test as easy as the sample??? (and I rarely watch cops) Now for those exams I took: I took Analyzing and Interpreting Literature yesterday. I passed and I'm terrible at Literature. The test can be tiring but no study required (just know what paradox, and onomatopoea however you spell it is). Heres to Your Health - I passed with little study, it helps that im a hypochondriac though. I looked onver Dr Koops self-care advisor the night before just to be sure though. I was ironically sick that day with a NASTY head cold... DANTES drug and alcohol, some light revision required, but do-able. You don't need a textbook though. Use a family medical guide or something or that website some girl on this forum. Take the same day as Health like I did if you can- they kinda overlap a little bit. I took American History 1 and 2 Monday and passed both. I did some study but not much. I passed but barely. These tests are do-able but not a gimmie. I say this as a history buff myself! I hope this helps!!!!!!! How Hard is DANTES Counseling, and Personal Finance?????? and CLEP ED Pshch and World History 1 and 2???
Personal finance wasn't bad at all ! I wouldn't sit the exam cold if you don't have any experience with the subject. Not a brain buster! Any idea about how to prepare for DANTES Counseling?
I found CLEP Humanities to be really easy. If you're a good Trivial Pursuit player, you should be able to take this one cold.
Dantes exams Randell, Are Dantes exams only for military or military veterans? Please advise, also, how much do these exams cost? Thanks, Abner
No, anyone can can take them. The only difference is that these exams are free for military people. For civilians, the cost is USUALLY about $75 give or take a little bit. The tests are $60 paid to the testing company and the testing CENTERS charge usually around $15 (I would imaging between $10 and $25) Together it should not cost anyone more than about $85 but most likely $75. (Not bad for 3 credits that would cost sometimes over $2000 in some colleges!)
