Anyone here enrolled in the Walden PhD program??? If so, can you comment on:
    1. the level of difficulty
    2. the time it takes to complete courses
    3. costs
    4. level of faculty support in the classes
    5. general comments and experiences.

I am looking at the Ph.D. in Public Policy & Administration with a specialization in public safety management, possibly starting sometime in the year 2006.

    Any insight is appreciated.

    Fishing for others...

And if anyone is interested in enrolling in this particular degree (Wald PhD in Public Policy & Administration with a specialization in public safety management) sometime in 2006 as a "cohort program," then please let me know. A cohort program would ideally be around 8-10 students or more. If we can get that many students who are interested, then I would approach Walden and ask them to initiate a cohort program for us, along with a tuition discount, due to the volume of cohorts. ;)

Walden has a cohort program for those of the same employer, but not for DL students who are scattered around the country or world. I presume that if this flies, then it would be the first DL cohort PhD program of its kind.

BTW, this would be a good degree for anyone in law enforcement.

    Me Again,

I was kinda wondering what was going on with you... you had been silent for a while... or was it my inattention to the board during the recent extended hiccup (or whatever it was) that disrupted my best efforts to keep tuned in...

I recently had a professor who earned a PhD from Walden (not in PA) who told me that it was a lot of work... but worth it in the end... too bad that I left law enforcement last year or I'd be interested...

Best of luck with this venture...

Yes, I've been rather quiet lately. After I finished an MA degree, I sort of had less of a reason to visit here. ;) LOL

Yes, the work of a PhD definately concerns me, as well as the cost. I'm still not committed to pursuing a doctorate, but am simply chewing on the idea for as long as it takes.

Why did you leave law enforcement, if I may ask?

"Her Royal Highness" did not appreciate the long hours and did not like the "occupational hazards"... so now I'm embarking on the second career in educational psychology...

Anyone interesting in an online cohort program?

Keeping the little lady happy is definately a high priority. :)

I just got this from Walden University via email:
    Veddy Veddy Interesting.

A representative from Walden called me today and, naturally, she was disappointed that I will not consider enrolling in a PhD program until 2006, if at all. Anyways, she said that they are on the quarter system and the current tuition is $3800 for two classes (4 credits each for a total of 8 credits over a 12 week period), so that comes out to about $475 per quarter credit. I'm not sure how that translates to semester credits. I wanted to stay away from the quarter system, but I give up. I'll do whatever I have to do. < shrugs shoulders > I thought that universities were getting away from the quarter system???

One quarter unit = 2/3 semester unit (or 10 hours vs 15 hours of classroom time)
