Does anyone know about a D/L Doctor of Laws (LL.D.) or Doctor of Juridical Science (J.S.D. or J.S.D.) degree?
I am already familiar with Washington School of Law, Northwestern California University, UNISA, and University of Leicester. Are there any other institutions offering these degrees by DL?
    Thanks!

That's every legitimate program I know of. An outfit in Wisconsin called HEED University used to offer the J.S.D. but I don't know if they still exist or even if they are legitimate.

Actually, now that I think of it, there's another program...I hesitate to mention it. It's not a diploma mill, at least, I don't think it is, but Oregon's ODA refused to approve it without certain rather significant changes. I'm talking about Columbia Commonwealth University. Do a search; there are several threads on this forum.

Anyway, they offer a Ph.D. in Management with an emphasis in International Business Law. If the program is for real, I think it looks interesting.

Thank you for your replies. According to a phony-looking web page, Heed University allegedly has a law school named Jefferson School of Law. They state that they offer a J.S.D. degree but offer no details at all about that program. They do make the tution fees very clear: over $7,000. Besides, the faculty is supposedly composed of one individual but there is no indication as to where to write. The school has no physical address, not even a postal address. In sum, I find that this alleged school lacks any credibility.
I only wish that U. of London offered an external LL.D. degree.
    Thanks.

  6. No has degree granting power (State Power)

If Heed University no has degree granting power (State Power), is a bad idea to study in that university.

I know that is not endorsed (accredited) by a Company, but some suggestion of the degree granting power (part of the States Power) to confer the degrees to the students?

    I can find that.

  7. Not find the degree granting authority

    I make an inaccuracy;

!!!I do not find the degree granting authority!

Heed's address on Brown Deer Road is a Mail Boxes Etc. store where I also had a mail box when I lived in the Milwaukee area.

I checked for an internet presence for two of my fellow clerics. Rabbi Baum is otherwise invisible, and Rabbi Kreindler is chaplain of the Broward County (Florida) Jewish Federation. The president of Heed, Nathaniel Willis, died several years ago.

The psychology school seems still to function at some level. The theological school is associated with an "episcopus vagans" organization. Its curriculum appears somewhat fanciful, IIRC.

Heed was a very early player in DL (very "sixties"). I have never really received a clear answer on how functional the school still is--repeated e-mails all went unanswered--and for sure Heed is not accredited by any RA or NA accreditor. This calls for circumspection, or else a decent respect for the departed shade of a dead DL pioneer.

If anyone has actually had successful contact with Heed recently, I'd be interested in what was discovered.

Open, frankly, to debate. There are a few other RESIDENT J.S.D. programs at schools with very strong reputations in certain areas. Think about Georgetown, for instance. A J.S.D. in public international law from Georgetown would carry a LOT of weight, I should think.

However, the original question concerned D/L J.S.D. programs, which Harvard and Georgetown definately are not.
