  1. What is Florida Council of Private Colleges, Inc?

Is this a Christian State organization that accredits religious universities; is this a good and highly regarded organization with powers of the Government of Florida?

  2. Bill Grover or Jimmy Clifton;

What you believe in relation to this Christian organization?

  3. Come on community, no body have an judgment about this Christian organization with government powers.

Any Christian education expert out here?

What makes you think they have government powers?

Thewy do not even claim to be an accreditating body, rather they specifically clain:
Nears as I can gather most of their members have about 100 students and are aimed at a very small niche.

  5. SBICU delegates to FCPC

"...relationship between FCPC and the State Board of Independent Colleges and Universities (SBICU), a division of the Florida Department of Education. The substance of this relationship is that SBICU delegates to FCPC the responsibility for issuing the authorization certificates for member institutions, under Florida Statute s.246.084"

I don't know much about this organization. I do see some schools that look credible but I see others that have been around for a long, long time and were thought of as degree mills.

    A few minor (sic) flaws:

    1) The State Board of Independent Colleges and Universities is now the Commision for Independent Education.

    2) The Commission for Independent Education has never heard of the Florida Council of Private Colleges.

    3) The Commission for Independent Education directly certifies many of the "real" schools listed on the FCPC site.

  8. Therefore, this organization is only a delegate for the spiritual universities Thanks Mike and Jimmy for the information.:D

My guess is that they've heard of them by now. The FCPC filed suit against the CIE on Friday 3/11/05.

  10. Any suggestion why they filed suit against the CIE?

My understanding is that the suit was filed to get the CIE to obey Florida statutory law.

    Subject: Approved institution?

    Greetings,

I am checking into the status of a school that claims they are approved by the Florida Depart of Education and accredited by the Southeast Accrediting Association.

Is the Evangelical Theological Seminary, located in Orlando, Florida an approved institution? and do you know of an organization called the Southeast Accrediting Accociation?

I would appreciate any information that you might provide.

    ------------------ Answer ---------------------------
Commissioner Winn has forwarded your inquiry regarding Evangelical Theological Seminary to the Commission for Independent Education.

Pursuant to Chapter 1005.06, Florida Statutes, this institution is not under the jurisdiction of the Commission. The institution provides a sworn affidavit attesting that training is to prepare students for religious vocations as ministers, professionals, or laypersons in the categories of ministry, counseling, theology, education, administration, music, fine arts, media communications or social work.

For a complete list of legitimate accrediting agencies recognized by the U.S. Department of education, see the following website: www.ed.gov/admins/finaid/accred/index.html

I hope this information is helpful and if this office may be of further assistance, please feel free to contact us by e-mail at [email protected] or call (888) 224-6684.

    Sincerely,
    Samuel L. Ferguson
