I always found audio books to have some advantages, if you can find one on a subject you need to study, which is not easy, tou can then study anywhere you go, going for a walk, jog, riding in a car or on a bus with headphones... I'm not implying that this should be ones exclusive methods fo studying, but it's still something that you can even have on in the background and cam help things sink into one's head.

TGhe only 2 interesting ones I found-

"Don't know much about History"- Kenneth C Davis:
Its biased as are many college textbooks are, but still has enough of an outline of american history to help people get a goiod pic in their head and is bound to help with a few ? on a CLEP American History exam...

the same author also has one on the civil war and there is a DANTES exam on the civil war.......I never listened to it- but Id imagine it could still help form a basic outline in one''s head and help compliment conventional reading.

I have found nothing on Vietmam or Phychology... However on Vietmam except novels, but im sure there are DVD's

As for Psychology all the audio-books I found were STRICTLY self-help it seemed and were more new-age than scientific......

Anyone else know of any audio books to help with any standardized tests???

I'm a big fan of audible.com. If it is on audio, you can almost bet that they have it. With the audible listener plan, you can get a free MP3 player, and 2 free audiobooks a month.

I've used them before to help study for some MBA exams.

    Eet vorks!

Good method. I made tapes of all the foreign language texts used in my courses for my, uh, booby prize MA program. Listened to 'em in the car constantly. Result: 3.90 GPA

The Teaching Company offers a wide variety of college level audio material on a wide range of subjects inlcuding material tested on the CLEP and DANTES tests.

Now THAT is cool. Wow. A new place to spend my income. I'm not sure whether to thank you, or to curse you! (just kidding).

    Great link.

:) It is cool...a couple of sources that may be cheaper to find these would be Ebay and/or your local library.

I have watched several Teaching Company courses. I bought one - then discovered I can get almost any of them through interlibrary loan.

In fact, I finished this today while driving around the foggy plains of Kansas.

    Good stuff!

Well I got the one about American History which was almost 4 hours long and listened to it on my way to DC last weekend and again on my way back. I tried to listen to it best I could, and parts were interesting, HOWEVER I don't think I learned anything new even though it had lots of info I wasn't up on.
