Does anybody know anyone that has gone through this route,or have any information about its credibility? The "dean" claims to have written contacts with ABA accredited LL.M schools which would allow one to sit for the Bar exam in certain non reciprocity states.Being from N.Y.,and 18 years removed from college,Saratoga sounds appealing yet suspect. On one hand as a long distance school it enables me to finish at a faster pace, but on the other John Bear writes that he knows of no one that has gone into the LL.M program this way. Any feedback would be appreciated.

  2. I've heard this same thing from a couple of people, and the online catalog at http://www.saratogau.edu/cat3.html states:

However... it does not name any of these schools. And I have not heard of or from any individual who has actually done the non-ABA-accredited JD to LLM to bar admission route.

In a May 1999 letter from Chief Justice Randall T. Shepard, Chairperson of the ABA Accreditation section, said:

Sounds as if the ABA does not approve this route.

Even if it does work in some states, I doubt very much that it would work in all. Texas, for example, specifically states that individuals who have a JD based on study by correspondence are not eligible for the bar exam.
