OK I'm geting ready to "plunge off the highdive" and take my first 2 Standardized exams for TESC/Social Science. For the Dantes I thought I'd start with 2 of the more non-threatening DANTES (DSST).
***Here's to Your Health- I HAVE NO IDEA how to study for this one :( All I know is that I am a hypochondriac and do read up a lot on alternative/holistic medicine...) I wonder if that would help at all. I just need to pass this it's Pass?Fail for TESC... I hope I can find ways to study w/o an $$$ taxtbook...

***Drug and Alcohol Abuse- I have a lot of books with reviews on the different types of drugs within them. If I memorized all the basics on all the categories of drugs i wonder if that would help...

Barnes and Nobles HAD NOTHING on Dantes or DSST in stock- the girl even helped do a search. I just hope theres some free info and good websites on health or Drugs and Alcohol on the net that I can memorize the basics w/o too much overkill...

I took it and did not study...no problems. I would look at the DANTES website and download the sample test. If you can answer at least half of the questions, you should be OK.

If possible use the search feature here. There has been a wealth of information on both tests and how to study for them in prior posts. Good luck!

For some reason, both these tests seem harder when you take them.

Here's to Your Health - piece of cake. I suggest you get any general health book and read up on it if you want to be extra careful.

Now - for Drug and Alcohol Abuse. I bought a book called Drug and Alcohol Abuse and studied for about 15 hours. You need to know what different classes of drugs do and memorize the names. Check out the test outline from the website. I took the test - it was not easy - I thought I failed. I ended up getting an A. Good luck.

Well I just took the sample tests cold late last night: I too thought they were both harder than I thought...

On the Here's to your Health........ being that this has the reputation to be the easiest- just looking at it was "bubble bursting" I thought "This is as easy as they get" :(
Anyway I got 10 right out of 11...

Drug and Alcohol one i was less lucky- I got 7 out of 13 right- but maybe some extra study will help/

ECE World Population- (SUPPOSED TO BE EASY) I only got 2/3 right :( :( :( That would be a 67 on a regular exam and an F- so I better study hard for that one...

This can all get so depressing, the thing with studying them is subjects like health are so broad that it be like a needle in a haystack to know what you need to know- What I MAY do is websearches on the specific topics they outline...

I already did some searches on THIS SITE- but sometimes I get more nervous cause all the exams that I need are the ones everyone says are the HARDEST (upper level History's Social Sciences.......)

    Here's to your health

Didn't you say you got 10 out of 11 right on the fact sheet.
    You should do fine!
I passed with absolutely no study

OK I took the exams Thursday. Im not going to comment on the difficulty yet cause I dont want to jynx myself. I will say that as expected the Health was easier and if I dont pass it I will scream!

Unfortunately I had a NASTY head cold the day I took the exams, but I dont think it affected my score too much. It could have been worse...

I dont think studying would have helped on the health one as much because the material coverd is so broad, but it helped on the Drugs one. Being a hypochondriac helped w the health one I think.

If I pass these 2 I have 8 more to go- one science, one history and the rest anything I want...

? is when will I get the results and how- I know I just need a 49 to pass for TESC, it's pass/fail for them...
