I have great respect for the people/suggestions on degreeinfo. I have been a frequent visitor now.
I am about to finish my DL MBA from a local Public school here in Florida.
Now i want to continue to study in the same momentum. I have 2 choices
    1. MS (Computer Secience) at Florida Atlantic University (FEEDS/DL) or
    2. PHD/DBA from an online school in USA or Australia.

Here is what i might use the degrees for.

    1. Might teach part-time/online - not sure about this.
    2. I am one of the partners/owners of a High-tech software company, so i am not planning to use the degrees to get a job.
    3. Doing PHD is for personal satisfaction.
    4. MS (Computer Secience) might open my interests in other fields in computer science like nanotechnology etc.

I would appreciate if the members of the forum give their opinion.

Based on your goals I would probably pursue the PhD since as you say you don't need the degrees for a job. However, if you were looking to enhance your resume for a job I think an MSCS would be more beneficial. I base this on my opinion which I formed from reading this forum and trade magazines that PhDs are generally an overkill for industry unless the company is conducting real research. Of course any MS degree in engineering, hard science or math would probably be as useful as the MSCS.

Of course, you didn't mention your undergrad degree. Was it Computer Science or a related field? If not you may have several prerequisites that you'll have to complete prior to fininishing the MSCS. Also, if you are interested in nanotechnology, you might want to consider the University of Florida's program instead of FAU. UF is actively conducting research in this area while I'm not aware of any research in this field being conducted by FAU.

My undergrad is in Electronics & Communication Engineering. I dont think any prereqs are needed for MSCS. I have industry certs like CCIE, MCSE etc. My MBA is in International Business. UoF is also a good option for florida residents. Thanks for letting me know about their research in Nanotechnology. I would talk to the school on monday.

If you have a CCIE and an MBA, I would say go for the PhD. You already have the tech skills you need and another masters would not go as far as a PhD.
