I've been having some problems with Charter Oak. Things have been getting lost (except the money). After I complained about the organization problems at the school, my advisor has been less than pleasant. I can't seem to get a straight (or any answer) answer from anyone and I'm getting a little scared of the CPS approval process and portfolio review. How subjective are these things. Not sure if I should just drop out. Has anyone else had problems?

I have to say that I have never had any serious problems with COSC. I gradute in January. A few times I had to call my counselor more than once to get a reply but nothing ever got lost and all her answers were concise and correct.

    COSC!

    FWIW:

I matriculated in March, graduated in July without the slightest of problems.

Each of my communications including faxes were acknowledged immediately. Most comms were via email and were acknowledged and or responded to within an hour without exception.

    My attitude was always:

"This is what I want to do. What do you need me to do to help me get there?"

If I was not talking with the right person, I was referred to the right person. I followed up each telephone conversation with an email detailing my understanding and requesting an acknowledement.

I was treated downright graciously by every single person I dealt with, every single time. I felt like each person that I dealt with was sincerely interested in helping me. No paper work ever got lost, no one ever forgot me or didn't understand what I asked.

As for your concerns about your concentration essay, I know the insructions can be intimidating, but all the information you need for approval is right there in those instructions! Read them carefully, think about what they are asking for and then just tell them what they want to know from your personal experience!

    Good luck and God Bless!

I had a dispute over the amount of credits I received, which gained me an additional 3UL credits. Other than that - it was smooth sailing. I don't suggest dropping out. Just stick with it and get it knocked out.
