    Hello buddies!
There is anybody here that's so kind to give me a hand?

Having moved to Ireland(I come from italy) to gain an international experience I'm wondering to attend an undergraduated online degree in Journalism and/or related fields, but I really gets confused when I try to gather some information about this "problem"
I've checked some university(regent university, University of maryland university college, canyon college, university of phonenix)but I really doesn't know which is the best one.
Actually I'm a journalist, enrolled in the journalist's register.
I have completed my secondary education (undergraduate, corresponding to a leaving certificate/high school) several years ago and then went through several professional experiences in the fields of journalism, web content managemente and public relations.

    thanks

There are a two Masters degree programs in Journalism at Australian universities (Central Queensland, Charles Sturt). The one that I know of from an American university is from the University of Memphis. Masters programs in Communications can be found at the same Australian schools as well as Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and the University of Northern Iowa. I also have the idea that Ireland has it's own DL system. It doesn't get much discussion because it's open only to residents of that country. If you think you'll be in that country long enough to complete the program it may be a good choice as it would almost certainly be the least expensive alternative. Good luck,

thanks for your advice, but at the moment I'm not graduate, so I need to find a online degree, before attending a master!

I didn't know that Ireland has it's own DL system...I'll take a look at.
    thanks

In Ireland, the national DL school is based at DCU, http://www.oscail.ie/index.php but the bad news is that they only do an annual entry for the BA in Humanities and that started last month. If you're based in Dublin, there's also a part-time evening degree at UCD http://www.ucd.ie/adulted.htm but that also runs on the standard academic year, so you've missed the start of that one as well. As far as I'm aware, none of the colleges of NUI provide any DL apart from the modules they contribute to the Oscail programme, and the growing cohort of programmes offered by the University of Ulster are all at the postgraduate level.

Apart from that, you could look at the Open University http://www.open.ac.uk/ as registration for most of their courses doesn't close for another week or two, although the fees for Irish residents are almost three times those a UK resident would pay.

As for DL journalism degrees in the UK: they don't exist as far as I can see. If you're thinking of TESC or Excelsior, you also have the problem that if you want to test out of parts of your degree, there are no CLEP or DANTES centres in Ireland. On the other hand, both TESC and Excelsior have designated communications majors, which is plus from your point.

Oh, and as everybody on here will tell you: Canyon College is a degree mill and you should definitely not consider it.

I think you'd probably be best talking to your union about what they think. I know that the NUJ doesn't demand that you're a graduate to be a journalist, and I think that the NCTJ http://www.nctj.com/ does some of their professional quaifications online nowadays.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. If Australia is a possibility then there are BA programs in Journalism at Deakin University, Monash University and the University of Southern Queensland. The only US programs I know of are TESC and St.Mary-of-the-Woods College. In Communication the list is longer and includes many of the same Australian schools. The US universities include Atlantic Union College and Old Dominion University. My list also has UNISA and the University of Pretoria as offering Communications degrees. Good luck,
    Jack
