What programs would you recommend along these lines?

I'm considering the U. of London External Program for the BA. Anybody have any experiences to share there?

For the TEFL/TESOL certificate, there are many programs out there, but I'm not sure if any are more respected, reliable, etc. than the rest.

I have 59 brick-and-mortar credits from Oklahoma (had to leave due to family probs 7 years ago) and am in Paralegal Studies at Kaplan now (which has done little but convince me that I don't want to be a paralegal. There is very little actual instruction there and no spirit of inquiry at all, some courses have been great, but others are awful).

    Thanks for reading.

If you've already got 59 credits, I'd make sure that they give you exemption from the four foundation courses in the external English degree, otherwise you're looking at three to four years at least to complete the BA. If, however, you'd just about finished your general ed requirements and were about to elect a major when you left OU, the bad news is that probably none of the gen ed credits will qualify for exemption on this side of the pond.

Assuming that you don't want to go back to OU online to get a BLS and that you want a specified degree in English, the usual recommendations of TESC and Excelsior crop up. There's also a very nice looking degree in English at Southern New Hampshire University http://www.snhu.edu/Home_Page/Academics/General_Info/School_of_Liberal_Arts/SLA_English_Language___Lit.html but at $720 a three credit course it isn't what one woould call cheap. Athabasca also seems quite interesting, especially at $Can 716 per 3 credit course . . . however if you can make sense out of their abomination of a web site, you're doing much better than I am!

I'll have to check the 4 you mentioned out and see if they meet my needs.

    Thanks.
